    First Holiday !

I would like to take my son on his first holiday; he's 13 months old and it just me and him. Can any parents suggest a good not too expensive holiday for july or august please ?

    Thanks !

Majorca? He will be on your knee for the flight so you don't want to go to far or somewhere too hot. Pick a child friendly hotel - last one I went to had a full sterilising facility. X

He'll be more than content with a few night's in Blackpool or somewhere like that. Don't matter where you go - home or abroad.

We have purposely kept our daughter away from abroad heat, it's her first trip abroad this year and she's almost 5 years old.

i believe 13 months is too young for a child to go abroad ,plane was full off babies when we went 2 weeks ago they get upset ,and to be honest theres not alot for them abroad,i was disgusted by the amount of parents that dumped there babies in the creche while they swanned about all day

We always do Haven each year, Our kids are now 6, 5 and 2 and have never been abroad. Would go now if it wasnt for the 2 yr old as the girls would love it. Baby is just a little too young still to enjoy or behave enough

I would look at a UK holiday for the first holiday, He will love watching the entertainment charactures in Haven too. x

We always go to France with Canvas Holidays. Have a 3 year old and a one year old. Stay in a posh tent with its own kitchen area with fridge, gas hob and grill. Great for little ones as no steps to fall down, no balconies to worry about and no worries about them crying on planes and annoying everyone else as it is usually self-drive (but they will annoy me in the car). No worries about finding food suitable for a baby as you can take your own. Most sites have baby facilities in the shower blocks. You can stay at multiple sites if you want to break up your journey. Very socialable type of holiday too, so if you are on your own with the little un you will still get adult conversation. Most family friendly type of holiday I have ever been on. We are going to the Vendee this year to a site with a heated indoor pool just in case the weather isn't up to scratch. I should add that I am biased as I used to work for Canvas but have seen lots of single parents with young kids have fantastic holidays.

Park Resorts or Haven , he will love the entertainment and there is lots to do in the day as well

A few nights away in the UK, nice beach somewhere. Tbh at 13 months they really havn't a clue about being abroad, or in posh hotels. My 18 month old would be happy at the park .... Maybe think of where you would like to go, and just make sure its child friendly, at that age, they really dont mind.

Personally I would avoid going abroad, my 2 havn't yet been (5) and (18 months). The heat, the plane, kids....... maybe when they are older!

    Have a great holiday

As others ahve said, the baby will be happy wherever you go so I would look at where you will enjoy going but that has facilities to make your life easy looking after the baby. Personally think hotels are a pain when loooking after a baby so look at selfcatering.

park resorts, definatley! smallish sites with brill little kids daytime entertainment! wouldnt take little person abroad yet!!

thanks for all the suggestions !

centerparcs, butlins, haven or park resorts. We've done loads of these types of holidays and they're great for children. Happy child = happy parent. We took our daughter when she was 15 months to majorca - it was horrendous.
Even now our children are older and we get further afield they still want there fix of holiday camp places.

Does it have to be july or august could you go early july or september...that way you will avoid too many school children and the prices should be better. Also i would imagine other parents with young kids would choose these times over the school hoiidays. can save you a fortune.

At 13 months he wouldn't appreciate how much extra it would cost to take him abroad:whistling:
Like whats said before, Haven or a nice UK beach is a good idea.

couldnt agree more. They wont appreciate the heat / sun so why not stick to a UK holiday. Good chance of decent weather in Jul / Aug.

And you wont be annoying a plane full of passengers either :-D
