1st May or end of May?

If 1st - today is T-50 days so you can now. If end - T-50 days is in one month's time.

No fee if you leave 30 days before the deal ends... So you can leave at any time within those 30 days... Or you will be put on there standard rate

Or 50 days in your case...Takes 14 days to jump ship I find

49 days in any case

I am with fixed utility and my deal ends 30th April. 49 days is notice they require without exit fees being invoked. I will be switching on Tuesday.

who y'all switchin to?

Just had an email from First utility (this morning) , I'm at present on the April 2017 dual fuel fixed rate .(finishes 30 April ) so can switch on 12 March, (49 days) without paying exit fees . YOU DONT SWITCH NOW !!! as any deal will not be as cheap as your current deal (keep the current rate for as long as possible , start to compare now but do not actually switch till the 1st May .

Their best rate (for me ) is their Online Direct Debit Dual Fuel May 2018 , which is a 13% rise on my current rate fixed last year , going by the projected increase in the DD .

My online account (which I put the readings in every month) means I can be very accurate with my current usage when putting the details into a switch / compare site. I'll get onto that in a couple of weeks but not actually switch till 1st May .

Remember - Do not actually switch until your current deal finishes on 30 April , The current deal is better than any deal you will get( prices are up 10-15% from last year) so make the max use of it.

It may well be that the new First Utility rate is still the best for you (as last years was for me) so you won't necessarily need to switch but you do need to compare to make sure .

Don't switch now !! any new deal you switch to will be more expensive as fuel prices have gone up by 10-15% . Compare now , but don't actually switch till 1st May . These big savings they claim are against a suppliers standard rates . If you mean you are with First Utility (not fixed utility) ? then you had the one of the best rates available last year (I know I'm on it too !) and you won't get near it this year ,so makes no sense to switch before your current deal runs out . Budget on your Fuel Bills going up 10 -15 % after May .

I've found the key this time is finding a fixed deal about to run out. Did that with both elec & gas and since all the prices have gone up. I'm with Flow & Iresa

May 1st? Takes 17days to change suppliers, so to avoid the more expensive tariff you should change no later than 17 days before the 12 month fix ends, approximately 13th April.

look for cheap deal from engine energy

Must admit after a quick scan on U switch I'm minded to stay with First Utility . Haven't had any problems with them to date and for the small savings from the small providers (how solvent are they ?) is it worth it ? The large suppliers are all more expensive . Will need to check further then the question is 1 yr , 2yr or 3yr fix?
