There are no real solutions, its a manufacturing defect which cant really be solved without changing the motherboard. Fixes such as the above may work but generally at best will likely only be temporary.

It's only the hard drive that goes in the freezer. Protect it inside an anti-static bag then inside an airtight container.

For some reason freezing hard drives does seem to fix them, and it works for the hard drives in PC's and PVR's too. Usually the fix is only temporary, so normally you clone the hard drive before putting it back in the xbox (or whatever).

The freezer trick works with nagging wives too.

Actually it's more of a cooling problem. Yes the motherboard is poorly designed but there isn't an actual "manufacturing defect". If it had ample cooling and it would run fine.

You are right in that most Xbox 360 RROD fixes are only temporary though.

What I mean is by the time you have RROD, the bonds between the chips and mobo are usually damaged. The fixes rely on reflowing the solder, but this will never result in a truly reliable connection. I would argue the combination of inadequate cooling and soldering (largely due to use of lead-free solder) could be called both a design flaw and a manufacturing defect, no doubt Microsoft would argue otherwise!

Years ago, I had a old Ford car CD player that was asking for the code (I did not have it anymore). Advice on forums said to place it in the frezer for a few days.

After a week in the freeze I connected it up, and it came on without asking for the code???? No idea why???

If i put my TV in the freezer for a few days, will i then be able to receive free porn channels after?
