Flight and holiday deals to Italy and other locked-down areas

Hi everyone

With the ongoing Coronavirus problems affecting many countries around the globe, we've been having a few chats internally about what action to take when certain deals are uploaded to the site.

The spread of the COVID-19 infection is obviously a fast moving situation, and we've been careful not to overreact, and make responsible decisions that allow people to find the deals they are after.

Today, both British Airways and Ryanair cancelled flights to Italy until early April, and we - like everyone - aren't sure what will happen over next few days and weeks.

So for now, we will be removing deals posted for flights and holiday deals to Italy, at least for a few days until the situation becomes clearer. We will stay flexible though, and could change this policy sooner depending on what happens, and the particulars of a deal.

Hopefully everyone understands why we are being cautious - we'll update you as and when anything changes

Thanks
Dan

Why not let consumers decide and take responsibility of their decisions? If someone still wants to go to Italy, it is their problem.

Is that why all comments on the cruise deal yesterday went to moderation?

I would personally rather see the deals as it's an indication of prices in the wider market. I doubt anyone viewing deals is unaware of the current situation.

Monitor FCO advice.
Look at your travel insurance. Usually an FCO notice triggers it but there are many which exclude pandemics

Look at the booking conditions. Are you sure you can simply walk away? Or can they follow you for the money? It may feel unfair but its teh detail that matters

Even if they do, looking at the chaos at the airports, nobody will check.
It has now officially been labelled as a Pandemic by WHO
