    Flying details

So im flying to America in June as i won a competiton and have been given a holiday to hollywood. Im not sure who the flying company is as of yet but im quite worried that it will be uncomfortable. Does anyone know what the standard comfort is and what facilities i will have for the flight?

Will i get one of these TV's on the back of seats?

    Banned

    tv's 50/50, mostly a virgin atlantic feature

imagine a bus seat, with actually slightly less leg room
facilities? 1 toilet per hundred people, stuffy air (have you not flown before?)

watch out for hijackers and terrorists

I would say most airlines on long haul have tv's now. What do you want, its free isnt it!!

Your average budget seat looks like this:

and here is your air steward:

just because you won it, wont mean your travelling in a cage with the animals in the hold

it will be most likely, economy class

then it will be like that, only about 11 hours long, nothing extra considering the amount of time, a basic meal, a snack or two, and 11 hours to get a DVT or someone's cold as its too darn cramped and stale air

this will keep you amused whilst flying through any volcanic ash

    ]Volcanic Airways!

    oh & watch ]Red Eye.

Depnds who you will be flying with. I've been on a few long haul flights to USA with different airlines and they've all been different. Contintential and American Airlines both have the tvs in the backs of the seat. Aer Lingus doesn't - we all had to watch the same thing from the joint tvs for everyone. Heard a few people rave about Virgin and they had the tvs in the back of seats too. Uusually the food and drinks are free with them all though - but that may have changed in the past couple of years. Last went in 2008. Hey, if its free I'd love it just sitting in the toilet all the way there!

..i thought t.v's came as standard now.. on a blimmin long flight, one would hope they had one on the back of every seat.. and that they were fully functioning. nothing worse that the t.v in front of you being on the blink, whilst everyone else has theires working no probs...

This may well be one of the top ten quotes of all time! :w00t:

Up there with Gordon Strachan's ' We're determined to show determination!'

if your flyin BA or virgin you will have a tv on the back of the seat and free meals dont know bout any other airlines tho

    Mod & Ed

Def tv in backs of seats with BA/virgin,/ American Airlines, you will get 2 meals on a flight to LA, and free drinks/snacks, usually they come round with tea/coffee/cold drinks approx every 2 hours, but you can also go upto the galley and help yourself, they leave trays of oj/apple juice/water out and boxes of crisps/pretzels/mini choccy snax out on the sides etc.
If you need any special diet requirements, once you know who you are flying with you can book these ahead of time online/by phone.
Have a lovely time, lucky you

Pray you don't get American Airlines. I flew with them to Philadelphia late last year and then on the internal connecting flight and they were the worst airline I've flown with and that includes Ryanair as at least you expect them to be crap.
Virgin were great when I went to Florida last year and Continental were ok from Newark last year too.

I think ill say congratulations on winning a competition! Who cares whats its like. Its free! Woooohoooo.

If you were in the cargo hold for 11 hours, it would still be a bargain considering...its free

In my experience ( and my husbands who lived in the USA for a number of years ) Virgin are far better than BA, the food is very good, service excellent, and inflight entertainment onscreen good too, will be cramped as usual in economy:thumbsup:
