frequency varies depending where you are in country.

Wouldn't bother. They are so weak you'll get interference from nearby stations. I've tried 3 different types in the past, including a Griffin. All were weak and suffered distortion.

​i use the cheapest, nastiest ones off eBay china for less than £2.
work fine in car, motorhome and workshop.

​I have a Belkin one and it works perfectly. So I would bother.

Most tune down to 87.0 Mhz, the UK doesn't transmit below 88 Mhz. However pirate stations use less than 88.0 Mhz, as do continental Europe. So if you don't live in London and don't plan to drive on the continent then you should be alright.
