Told it was a 20MB connection but was only reaching 5-6MB. Somebody said go into the router settings, so I looked at statistics and this is what is says (see post #1), just wondering if it means it is only a 8MB connection after all

Its up to 20mb. The chance of you getting that are pretty slim.

I understand this but under router settings it says 7004 KBPS which probably translates to 8MB roughly. On the phone a 'sky guy' said that it was already a 20MB therefor it wasn't upgradable. But looking at this it seems it is only 8MB. I just wanted confirmation

You might be payomg for 20MB but it depends on your line, if you can get 20MB. BT are upgrading their exchanges at the moment and you will see an increase soon (depends on how far from exchange you are). We could only get 8mb, not we can get upto 14mb :-D

1.8 Miles roughly, not too far. Located in greater London not sure there would be a restriction. I'll google it

41.5 downstream Db loss wouldn't indicate your on a line of 2k or so. As people have said it's an upto 20Meg service, what your getting is about right for a line of that length.
You may be 2k from the exchange, but the cable may run a total different direction (it won't go the shortest way to your house).

BT are putting fibre in to the cabinet in certain areas, Sky use LLU equipment so they have nothing to do with BT, Openreach will maintain skys line. Sky may be able to buy fibre connections from BT in the future.
