Food rationing has hit Edinburgh.....

Found 2nd Dec 2010
because of the snow the delivery lorries can't through so a lot of supermarkets are running low on stock. What's it like where you are? The lunchtime Forth One News states there will be a shortage in food supplies by the weekend if the vans don't appear. Nothing like encouraging folk to panic buy now is there? Neighbour said there's a member of staff actually guarding the bread in Iceland and only allowing 2 loafs per household.

OH was in Asda earlier and staff were saying they've had no deliveries of fresh stuff and everything is running out. Also there was not one checkout open in the big Tesco as they had no staff so it was self-service tills only. Can't believe in this day and age that everything still grinds to a halt when the snow comes - they knew about it last week.

I was going to send you some bread x x

Yeah I tried to get bread yesterday and nothing!

Can't believe how bad Edinburgh is just now

Thanks but we did manage to get some lol. Both brown and white. Even stocked up with those part baked baguettes which last for ages so should be okay. Always wanted a breadmaker so now would be the time to buy one I think.

Its awful isn't it? I've been stuck in since the weekend as can't even get out the door. Did have the kids out on the sledge on the Sunday but even they're bored of it now. OH said the Tesco at Corstorphine which is massive had no one manning the tills as no staff - unbelievable. Asda at Chesser had no potatoes at all but he managed to get them at Tesco but they're low. It better melt soon I tell ya!

Whew!!

Just back from the shops!!

Stocked up with bread and milk - enough for about three months - but who cares, I'll be able to flog the excess in Morningside in a couple of days and make a fortune.

Moohahaaa!

I'm the same, my car is totally stuck in so can't even get out to the different places to try it! Got the bus yesterday but the girls kept getting stuck in the snow and it was really rubbish. I haven't even got wellies so haven't been able to get out in it lol

So have we - he came in with tons of bags with bacon, sausages, eggs etc. Our local Co-op has had no milk, bread or eggs since Monday and has a note on the door saying not to ask!

Its rubbish all this snow - plus you can't even make a decent snowman as it gets lost in the front garden. Snow hasn't stopped today either. I actually bought a couple of pairs of wellies a few months ago which had sat in a bag unworn till now and they were a godsend. Black with bright pink and purple flowers (gave the zebra ones to my eldest lol) - didn't give a hoot what I looked like

Mars bars won't be getting through to chip shops.

Oh dear - just had a look. Forth One said it would snow all today but should ease off by tonight then it will just be freezing every day after with freezing fog in the morning.

Kittleyards is in town as well which is normally not bad when its hit with snow so must be pretty bad for it to be that slow. I used to live by the Shore up until 4 years ago and we never had any bother with snow as it was by the sea and the salty air melted it quick - oh to live there again!

Everyone had a 2 day start on us...... but it hasnt stopped since! Forecast said it would stop today... but its still snowing (though not heavy) If only I'd bought that sledgy thing in Costco for the kids 2 weeks ago that my missus said "what for - we don't get any snow"!

I know - she said the guy was standing in front of the bread shelves saying it was only 2 per person/per household. I mean how does he know who lives in the house? A married couple could go in separately and buy 2 each lol! Bad times though if they're having to do that as folk must already be panic buying.

X) what you like? No I'll not have had my tea but will be soon. I've acually been in survival mode this week and made loads of stuff for fear of starving! Made big pots of minestrone, chicken madras, tattie soup, shed loads of cakes and muffins to keep the kids off my back.

Empty shelves/people panicking/no food - its just like Hogmanay!

Not done it all today - been doing it since Monday! There's nowt else to do as can't get out and going stir crazy especially with the young ones so it keeps them occupied as well. Lol at the war can you imagine? What could I do with dried egg and whatever else they had to make do with? X)

Should really be doing my christmas shopping but there's only so much I can get online, even then can't get anything delivered as no postie or vans been seen since Friday. A girl needs her retail therapy.
