Football In HD - How to watch?

Will BBC HD and ITV HD be showing the world cup in HD online?

Cant get sky or freesat here and dont think im gonna be able to afford an aerial and freeview HD box.

Catch up tv were supposed to be screening in HD but have not mentioned anything lately.

Anyone have any suggestions or fancy coming to put up an aerial for me (no joke)

I very much doubt this will be HD online, due to the amount of bandwidth required

I am fairly sure that BBC only stream SD live, but i could be wrong..

besides, for something like the world cup, i don't think they would risk streaming it in HD, their network would collapse

where do you live man timbuktu !! move

No not Timbuktu, North West London, we are the last house by a park so too many trees for sky or too big a job, one of the two. Not sure why Virgin inst down this road though.

Freeview HD would prob be fine but a couple of quotes put me off plus would have to buy a HD for around £80.

Apart from the world cup i wouldn't watch anything else as all my viewing is on demand

hd streaming you are going to need a very good connection

so youve rang vm and they have said it isnt down your street, im … so youve rang vm and they have said it isnt down your street, im surprised that in this day and age and you living in the big smoke you dont have access to any of the big players

Haven't rang them but i know its not down my street, checked online and saying its not down my street.

We are the only house without sky and its purely down to bad luck with the trees and freeview we would have its just the cost of aerial and box.

I really wish sky would take my money, i tried twice, both times with half price codes, very annoyed

    BT Vision not an option?

    Is that up to 24MBPS?

    Also is that with talktlak?

5MBPS is good enough for HD streaming 6MBPS at a push

Honestly you should be having no problem with HD streaming from your end.

    Good speed though 18Meg

If Freeview HD is in your area then you should be able to get BT Vision HD for the World Cup.

Doesn't work that way unfortunately, vision box hasn't got DVB-T2 technology, that will be in the 3rd vision box out in December.

    They missed the boat there.

Freeview HD is in my area though, might try installing aerial myself :w00t:

Hmm, yeah I just read that the two tuners in the box are both DVB-T and not T2. That has shocked me heh.

You could always ditch BT Vision until they release the new box and with the money saved have a an aerial and Freeview HD box installed.

Or ask around and see if you can get an engineer to sort you out an aerial installation on the side, the aerials themselves are only around 20 notes heh.

Or even have a look into indoor aerials, loft aerials for example. I am not sure how good these are now, but I would assume it may be possible depending on how far you are away from the main mast. Back home I can see the Winter Hill aerial from my house and could get a pretty amazing signal with a really tiny antenna.

See if you can stick it in the loft if you don't want to get the lader out and get on the roof.

Use TVCatchup's High Quality streams.. they're pretty good..

Bit off topic but what does the heh mean at the end of your sentences? Are you laughing, or is it an accent?

Sounds like the only way you will be watching the footy in HD is by visiting your local pub

Check out Sky 3D here 3d.sky.com/pub…er/
