I might be getting the wrong end of the stick here, but if the referee says to the FA 'Yes I saw it' then the FA cant do anything to the player in question, if he denies he saw anything then the FA can give out a ban for a retrospective action against an unseen incident.

So if he admits he saw it and didn't do anything during the game as he froze/made a mistake, then the FA brand him a rubbish referee and the player in question gets away with it. Everyone loses.

The rule is stupid anyway, the FA should be able to review any incident and rule on the appropriateness of any punishment.

Really you think its ok for a premiership referee to be told when he sees an incident that should be reported to lie and say he didnt see it because being told by PGMOL.

yes because of the rules of trial by video. FA can take action only if the referee has not seen it. How many times
do we see ref has made a howler in the first half. Then in 2nd half try to correct that by giving a penalty etc..

its not right, that they have to lie but if the rules state that FA can only act when ref hasn't seen it
so I guess they can use that rule to make the right decision by sending to the FA and get the correct decision in the end.

The ref's 'have' to say they didn't see it to get any action taken retrospectively if they don't then it makes them look rubbish that they missed the original blatant incident during the game.

Here is the incident mark halsey tweeted about earlier google.co.uk/amp…lge

Wow he seems a really principled type of gym that would be above intimation and having his hand force - Oh no wait he is a total gutless embarrassment to everybody who ever had any faith in him. His family must be so proud!

Going back to the aguero incident they appealed the charge because they believed for how close and on the angle how andre marriner was he must have seen the elbow and if he did see it and carried out no action against aguero that should be the end of it.However Marriner stated he hadnt seen it thereby retrospective action was able to be carried out and aguero was subsequently banned for 3 games.

Does it matter? it still resembles something out of one of those magazines. Not saying the papers aren't putting it across like that either.

An official in high ranking place has told a referee to lie so that a player gets banned!! #norugtosweepthisunder

So the PGMOL think Mark Halsey is a liar? @RefereeHalsey did it happen?? Does it happen now?
    @Brookcobear @BBCSport
If the PGMOL are correct then Mark Halsey is a liar, if Halsey is correct then the PGMOL is corrupt.

That came before a conversation with Mike Riley when he said I would be getting a phone call from Tarik Shamel, Head of On-Field Regulation at the FA, about the incidents involving Nzonzi, who would ironically later sign for Stoke.
“When the call came, Tarik told me that Mike had told him there should have been a sending off. Not for me, there shouldn’t, I said. Tarik left it up to me to decide the next step.

Its all taken out of context.

For example, i used to work in IT and i was told i should aim to do a certain amount of jobs per day. If i didn't, then i didn't. If i did then i did. No action was taken against me either way. Its a expectation rather than match fixing. Plus, how many times per game has a ref given a corner when it wasn't a clear corner?, hardly ever. Odd mistakes will happen.

He was a crap ref anyway, disgruntled maybe?. He's been out of public eye for a few years now, easy way to get noticed isn't it.
