Formatted PC and forgot to backup itunes...DOH!

Hi guys a little help if possible.

I need to get the non-purchased music from itunes music from my ipod touch (think it 2nd or 3rd gen if it matters) back to my PC so as i can sync it with itunes again so it doesn't wipe my ipod.

Has anyone actually used an app, preferably free or has a tested method to accomplish this please?

I have done the usual google thing but so far i can only find paid for solutions which i am certainly not paying for unless i know 100% it works or am handing my credit card details to be exploited (i have a PS3 for that)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

ty mate, using it now seems to be doing the job.

I know your problems sorted but you don't have to auto sync you know, there's a tickbox that says "Manually manage music and update files" or something... just tick that.

Their / this problem would remain for anyone in the same situation, as a manual sync will wipe ipod as they are saying they do not have the library anymore on their PC after formatting.

I still think you're right and it's wise to uncheck sync auto though, which is your point as you understand rather than the above

Do you mean auto sync would wipe it? Cancel it when it comes on, I've never had that problem before.. A friend didn't know you could do it so I showed her how to on my computer (which obviously wasn't the same library and her Ipod had never been plugged into it before. :\

if you no longer have the library and you sync either manually or auto having just installed itunes you will have an empty library and if you sync manually or auto you will wipe ipod and just have the new library synced to ipod which is empty so you have wiped what was on your ipod

I don't mean manually sync, sorry, I mean manually manage, drag and drop the songs you want onto there. I never sync mine.
