Bolt gun to the head probably best.

The poor thing. i would take it to the vets and see if its got a chip. you could then try to ring its owner,,, the RSPCa and other places are just a death sentence. there are thousands of staffies abandoned its a crisis .

take it to local police station

:?awwwwwww poor we thing, dont to where you are but in scotland you can take it to the police station, and they will get it moved to a rescue centre

    No it isn't.

I would take it to the vets like Suuzi said, it may have an ID chip. If not, leave it at the vets (if they are OK with this) or take to RSPCA. Surely they have to take it in? Poor dog.

^ I agree 100%. Might of only been there 2 mins! You might wanna take a mate with you when you take it back, because if the owner sees you he/she would be well within his/her rights to bang you out.

typical of a HUKD user though - do (something stupid) first, ask questions (on the forum) later.

where there any shops near by or anything?
How long did you wait before taking the dog away?

I would asume that the owner may have just tied it there for a few mins ?

My sister had to staffs and they both shiver evan when the heatting was on full blast.

I would put up some posters around the area that u found the dog, maybe its owner had to dash off somewhere quickly, returned and found his dog gone

I'd still go ahead and put some posters up around the area

The owner could of had a genuine reason to leave there dog there for a while

It's become quite clear now we are dealing with a dognapper here.

Suggest we be careful about what we say until the impended court case is resolved.

ok you have to be having a bubble now, a genuine reason to leave a dog @ 9pm+ at night in a closed off area tied to a fence for 40+ minutes.

I mailed her telling her she was a disgrace to buy a pup without obviously thinking about it all properly and now the poor thing being uprooted.Darren u do a lot of good with the clickety click thingy!!

    for once... touche.

you did the right thing thankfully there are people like you about unlike some i wont mension
poor thing hope you find somewhere soon that willl take her

I think you did a great thing and I think most dog lovers would do the same, this is how i ended up with my Staffy. :-D

After finding her tied up, I took her to a rescue centre the next day and then ended up adopting her as I just couldn't bring myself to leave her.

She's a royal pain, but I couldn't imagine life without her.

last easter I found a stray, little terrier type thing, looked pretty elderly and not in the best condition, it was walkind round in small circles on a busy road. I stopped, got it off the road and tried calling someone to pick it up.......called the RSPCA and the NSPCC and both said as it was easter neither of them could come out, but could I drive it to a pound place.....that was about an hours drive away!!!!! Now I know I wanted to help the dog but I thought that was cheeky!
In the meantime a few kids had gathered and I heard them telling a friend of mine they had seen the dog yesterday nearby and thrown it over a wall!!!!!! Then found it again that day with blood on it so 'gave it a bath', as it was easter it was relatively cold and the dog shouldnt have been left wet at all! In the end I decided to put the dog in the car and take it before I did what I wanted to do to the little *****

Got back to my house and spent a few hours phoning pounds and charities, in the end I resorted to phoning vets, after a few calls to people not wanting to know, a helpful person gave me a number and said not to say I got the number off her (Cant remember the number!!! sorry!!!!) called that and was told they could pick the dog up sometime that day but didnt know when...was fine with me as I wasnt going out.....

Didnt know what to do with the dog then, wanted to feed it but didnt know if they were going to give it any meds etc when they picked him up so had to just watch him....still walking in small circles :x

poor thing :x hope you find an answer....just keep calling people

Was it found in the local dogging area?:)

Nice one - well done for doing the right thing

My sister and I found an alsation last year, she was running around the streets and running in and out of roads - it was just after 9am on a week day. We went direct to the police station (it was 5 mins away) only to be told they don't take in stray dogs and we'd have to take her home and call the dog warden (we live in Birmingham). We offered to take the dog to the RSPCA and Dogs Home but were told that we weren't allowed. After we'd fed her and waited and waited, we rang the Dog Warden and told them we'd keep her. An hour later we took the dog to the local vets to get her checked out and to see if she'd got a micro-chip. She had - her owner didn't even realise that she was missing! It was 2 o'clock in the afternoon - how could they not know! We offered to keep her, if they didn't want her, but they said they did. We left her at the vet for them to collect - we offered to take her home to them but the vet wouldn't let us. You try to do the right thing, but it always turns out complicated.

^ I feel bad about this story because its an Alsation, and therefore a proper dog.

fair point but maybe they were out looking for her.....or maybe they didnt realise she had got out of the garden etc.....at least they had the common sense to had their dog microchipped! Nice to know there are more people that would do the same, I dont have a dog atm but would hope that if any dog of mine went missing I would be getting a call that someone had rescued them
