hi everyone. Does anyone know if specsavers, vision express, boots or any eye test company are doing free eye test? I remember there was a free eye test voucher for specsavers but I cannot find the voucher anywhere. I appreciate everyone's help. also are there any discounts for buying glasses? thanks everyone

There are no free test vouchers available with anyone right now unless you are eligible for one as per NHS guidelines or if you live in Scotland. Costs for stores have gone up due to the pandemic and all freebies have been pulled.

I am getting my eyes tested in a few days but luckily, my employer reimburses the expense up to £25.

Try one of the supermarkets. I think Asda/Tesco do free eye tests

At Asda Opticians an eye test is £19 or you may be entitled to this for free under the NHS (all people in Scotland are also entitled to free eye tests). If anyone who falls into a group that might be entitled to a free eye test see the NHS website.

And the opticians at Tesco's are now run by Vision Express and are no longer free.

And OP, as mentioned above, buying glasses online can be cheaper than on the high street. Have a look at the following.

    moneysavingexpert.com/family/cheap-glasses/

And if you go to Glasses Direct, you can also get a pair of varifocal lens glasses from £49. Have a look here if that's what you are after. (edited)

I would sign up for the speckyfoureyes newsletter, but their are plenty of good deals for prescription glasses with designer frames... Only problem is they take 3-4 weeks for delivery... But definitely for the price its worth it

Yes, that’s right, Vision Express are now the options based in Tesco stores and are no longer free. I used to go there when they were offering free eye tests, very good too and very thorough. A pity they ended this as Vision Express tend to be very expensive.

Yeah, and as mentioned in the thread posted by AndyRoyd if you workon a computer for the majority of the day, you may also be entitled to a free eye test from your employer. You can also check the NHS website to see if you’re eligible for free eye tests. (edited)
