why buy when you can go to chemist (if they are in scheme) (LLoyds are)

you just go into chemist and - ok - you have to fill in a form - but then you can get calpol - nappy rash cream - etc

    well worth popping into chemist!!

no disrespect meant to original poster

Do you have to meet certain criteria for this?

Just wondering as my doctor will not give me calpol for my daughter on prescription because as he put it i am "not a single mother or on benefits":x

I dont think its for working mothers.

Its also worth pointing out that majority of chemists you need to have your children present with you so that the pharmacist can have a look at them.

I wasnt asked about benefits (i dont get any btw) all i did was go to the doctors and asked at the reception desk, they gave me two pink booklets as i have two kids but they had to be over 1 and she stamped the booklets and now i can go for calpol without having to make an appointment, ive never had to use it yet so cant tell you any more lol...im in the St.Helens PCT, Merseyside

    :?

i have used it for my little girl to get an antihistamine (sorry bad spelling!) for her hayfever in the summer saved a trip to the docs and it ment it hadnt gone away by the time we got to see anyone, i hate it when that happens:roll:

its called CARE AT THE CHEMIST, or thats how I have always known it, they used to give you a passport type booklet when it was first launched but now you dont need that I just go in usually when im running low on paracetamol for the kids and they give me some they just ask for childs name and address and whats wrong then fill out a form, also its for cough medicine/nappy rash etc...(any minor things that you dont really need to see the doctor for) its supposed to save doctors appointments for more serious things  I think everybody is able to use this regardless of benefits etc it might be best to check with your local authority to see if they participate in this and what chemists offer this.

Just to confirm - anyone can use the scheme. It's called Pharmacy First in my area.

Bad News for me. Your Doctor needs to have approved the Minor Ailments scheme - ours has not. The local chemists allowed us free medicine for a few months, now they have rightly refused.

Our Doctor is really tight on giving away medicine - so I mat have to now start buying the stuff for my kids - which reallyis utter madness.

Only option is to line up with an appt a week later and pretend I or kids are still ill - madness!!
