Free money for Oxfam - Coop credit card

    Banned
How the cards raise money for Oxfam

    1. When you take the card out, The Co-operative Bank donates £15 to Oxfam
    2. The bank gives a further £2.50 when the card is used in the first six months
    3. The bank continues to give 25p for every £100 spent using the card or transferred to it

Haitit people really need help right now so please sign up for this.

Coop are the most ethical bank there is and they do give money to fabulous causes throughout the year.

£17.50 in the first 6 months seems generous but 0.25% after that seems a bit tight! Worth taking out and using a few times, then reconsider?

Probably you are correct but it is still worth a HOT right? Particularly as money is needed so badly right now in Hati.

The people of Haiti need the logistical support to deliver food, medical and heavy lift. They don't need cash, that's just another cynical charity ruse

seems like all the help for haiti is coming from everywhere but there own country

Agree, there are many charities of varying reputations in the world. I'd happily give my money to Oxfam as one of the best.

As for the comment "the people of Haiti don't need money" - how exactly are food & medical supplies now and engineers & building materials in the future going to get to Haiti without money? If I owned a 747 Cargo or a large container ship I would happily donate it. As I don't I guess they'll have to make do with my money.

I don't understand the concept of "a ruse by charities" - are you suggesting they're just big global corporations trying to increase their market share of the saving peoples' lives business? How cynical of them. Which really worthwhile industry do you work in which makes you morally superior?

"seems like all the help for haiti is coming from everywhere but there own country"
How exactly is one of the world's poorest nations supposed to help? Even if they hadn't just had almost every government building (including schools and hospitals) destroyed by an earthquake. Now that's irony!

However, as I said above there are some charities I rate above others. Comic Relief is fantastic and every penny really goes to help people, celebs all do their bit for free either because they believe in the cause or they think it'll improve their image (I don't really care if they raise awareness and/or money). But ask Terry Wogan how much his fee is for presenting Children in Need every year.

Couldn't agree more, swopping my current bank card for a co-op credit card, and donating to Haiti.
