Cause they are afraid of the truth
I supposed I knew my Bible
Reading piecemeal, hit and miss,
Now a bit of John or Matthew,
Now a snatch of Genesis,
Certain chapters of Isaiah
Certain Psalms (the twenty-third!);
Twelfth of Romans, First of Proverbs—
Yes, I thought I knew the Word!
But I found that thorough reading
Was a different thing to do,
And the way was unfamiliar
When I read the Bible through.
Oh, the massive, mighty volume!
Oh, the treasures manifold!
Oh, the beauty of the wisdom
And the grace it proved to hold!
As the story of the Hebrews
Swept in majesty along,
As it leaped in waves prophetic,
As it burst to sacred song,
As it gleamed with Christly omens,
The Old Testament was new,
Strong with cumulative power,
When I read the Bible through.
Ah! Imperial Jeremiah,
With his keen, coruscant mind;
And the blunt old Nehemiah,
And Ezekiel refined!
Newly came the Minor Prophets
Each with his distinctive robe,
Newly came the Song idyllic,
And the tragedy of Job;
Deuteronomy, the regal,
To a towering mountain grew,
With its comrade peaks around it,
When I read the Bible through.
What a radiant procession
As the pages rise and fall,
James the sturdy, John the tender
O the myriad-minded Paul!
Vast apocalyptic glories
Wheel and thunder, flash and flame,
While the church triumphant raises
One incomparable Name.
Ah, the story of the Saviour
Never glows supremely true
Till you read it whole and swiftly,
Till you read the Bible through.
You who like to play at Bible,
Dip and dabble, here and there,
Just before you kneel, aweary,
And yawn thro’ a hurried prayer;
You who treat the Crown of Writings
As you treat no other book—
Just a paragraph disjointed,
Just a crude, impatient look—
Try a worthier procedure,
Try a broad and steady view;
You will kneel in very rapture
When you read the Bible through!

People translate it until the words match their own beliefs
Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material. Leviticus 19:19
All that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you. Leviticus 9:10
Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves. Numbers 31:17-18
See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof. Genesis 19:8
So no, it's not the greatest book in the world. Far from it,
Heathens. (edited)
After all, its a study material and never posted before. Never mind, moved to discussions anyway. Nobody going to see this now.

I have another theory... You know what I mean
The Christian Church hasn't had very good press lately has it with all the scandals coming out.
It seems 6% of people now follow Islam and 26% are atheist. These figures are from 2018. I think Christianity fails to connect with younger people today but also people aren't as devout to it compared to a couple of generations ago. So the generation coming of age now hardly have any exposure to it.
Joke, isn’t it?
Because they believe in father Christmas and Easter bunny and will teach their kids that and enjoy the gifts and the days off work, even have gatherings with groups and talk about Christmas plans with friends but will say they don't Believe magic Man in sky and tooth fairy and slander The ones who do. There's a word for these people. These people will also click on this thread, every single one of them which is irrarional because of their beliefs.
Not really no. Might as well explain now it's been moved to discussions for no apparent reason.
You can say that again, it's all Greek to them.
Old Testament was written in Hebrew. The New Testament was written in greek. This is the greatest book in the world and has changed the lives of billions of people over thousands of years. People who look down on it don't realise that the wisdom it contains is not beneath them - it is above them.
Wisdom is too high for a fool; he does not open his mouth in the meeting place. Proverbs 24:7
Psalm 10
4 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God;
God is in none of his thoughts.
5 His ways [d]are always prospering;
Your judgments are FAR ABOVE, out of his sight;
As for all his enemies, he sneers at them.
6 He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
I shall never be in adversity.” (edited)
