Lottery is a tax that affects those with lower incomes.

People play the lottery in the hopes to make it rich and win the jackpot. Those that play are usually of lower socioeconomic class because the rich have no reason to play it as they've already got the money.

The increase in price from the previous £1 to now the £2 is, I would now even say is a direct regressive tax which thrives from those that are poor.

Yes, nobody is forcing anyone to do anything and I get that stance, however you need to factor in the inelastic demand addiction to things like this can cause.

In the end, it is a tax on the poor.

Again, I don't have an issue with what the lottery stands for.

I was asked why don't I start playing now and I stated it was an indirect tax and for that reason I personally don't play it.

I don't have an issue with it, it's just my reasoning why I am not playing it.

I am aware people may play the lottery weekly, for this reason I was requesting if anyone had a spare code.

Hi, you could play a single play/ticket for 1-2 quid, I'd be OK to pay such 'tax', especially if I can get a voucher... You don't need to be a frequent player, play once a year ?... why not...

Not a tax indirectly or directly. No one is forced to play the lottery.

Just like people on lower incomes are not forced to drink “indirect poison” from the supermarkets and pubs.

It shouldn’t make a difference I took my daughter on the London eye a couple of months ago. Bar code tickets both separate both scanned separately. As long as you have the tickets for the amount of people going on that’s all that matters when they scan the barcodes
