Freesat Dish...will old sky one work??

I moved into this house 4 years ago and the previous owners had sky. The dish still remains, but will it work if I buy a freesat recorder?? Thanks for any advice.

Yes it will work. However, if you are talking about recording, you'll need more than one input. Check that the LNB on the front of the dish has more than one output. If it hasn't you wouldnt be able to record one channel and watch another live and would need to buy a new Quad LNB for about £15 from ebay and a second cable run. (Or better still - some "shotgun" cable.)

The one in the house im renting seems to have two Guv. Does that mean it has the dual channel needed for recording? Guessing someone had sky plus.

Yup. You need that for sky+ to operate properly. You dont need it if you just intend to watch and not need more than one channel at a time. (Ie recording)

    cheers.

I'm guessing the channels I will use won't require the dish moving as it would of been set up for Sky.

Sorts the world cup coverage out for me.

Correct. If its standard sky dish, it should already be set up for Astra at 28E. Winds may have moved it of course, but aligning one of these dishes is such a doddle that even the guys sky employ can do it! :whistling:

Jeez! That is cheap! I was gonna put a tenner down, but figured someone would jump on me for it! Just looked and there are certainly plenty there for £9 including post.

Might get one for the old man so he doesnt need to change channels with one of those magic eye thingies when he's in bed!
