Freesat HD vs Freeview HD

Can anyone tell me the difference?

    Thanks

Freesat uses a satellite dish. Freeview uses the aerial!

While i believe right now they both have the same HD channels, Freesat will end up with more because of the greater amount of space available for them - they can also run at a slightly higher bitrate meaning a little better quality - but thats negligible to nil, really - most people wouldn't tell the difference.

Freeview HD will end up with capacity for 5 HD channels, these are likely to be BBC HD, ITV HD, 4HD, five and film4 HD (tentative.. film4 could be something else) - but that's in 2012.

Freeview HD isn't available in many areas yet

The problem Freesat face is getting bandwidth on satellite transponders that are focused on the UK - they are limited and currently in very high demand

    Short answer is no. :x
Current Freeview tuners work on a system called DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcast - Terrestrial). HD Freeview tuners use DVB-T2.

DVB-T2 equipment is just starting to emerge now.

Freeview aims to have 50% of the UK population in HD coverage. The best way to find out when you can get Freeview HD is to enter your postcode in the coverage checker on Freeview's website http:/********/apnjn0

And yes, some new equipment is required to receive the HD signals. There are a few Freeview HD boxes and integrated TVs are available now, with many more coming out before the World Cup in June.

Yeah but freeview sucks and they are one of the stingiest companies … Yeah but freeview sucks and they are one of the stingiest companies around, happy to take our money, but don't actually use it to do needed upgrades to transmitters.

Eh? Freeview is a brand name. The company is called DTV Services Limited and they don't take any money from the public. It's entirely financed by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky and Arqiva.
