    Fridge Freezer - which one?

Need to choose between the following models:

    Bosch KGN39V00 Classixx
    Bosch KGN39X00 Logixx
    Zanussi ZNB4051

    Requirements:
Sizewise: 60cm wide, 200cm (at least) tall
    No frost
    White
At least 80 litres freezer capacity.
    freestanding
    Up to 450 quid.

Don't need any gimmicks like built-in radio or network (you wouldn't expect this from me, huh?)

Which? website states that Bosch reliability is excellent except in Fridge-Freezers. Can anyone with Which? subsctiption confirm that? (my trial just ran out :()

I'd go for one of the Bosch models on reliability and build quality grounds..and you get a 2year warranty...as for which one ...sorry I haven't a clue.

Have you got direct links to these products and price?

Oh, sorry, should have been posting it... Mea culpa.

Bosch Classix KGN39V00 - Lowest price 311 delivered.
Bosch Logixx KGN39X00 - Lowest price 365 delivered
    Zanussi ZNB4051 - Lowest price 420 delivered

Note that Zanussi is stating its model ZENB4051 and not ZNB4051. This is misprint

Well, I voted for the Bosch Logixx KGN39X00.

Main reason being the Anti-Bacteria function, secondly, being Bosch too! HTH

Is the Anti-Bacteria thing really useful or is this just marketing ploy?

Hmm... Just read detailed spec on 39V00. It says:
    Anti-bacterial protection

Have just replaced my FFreezer. The back of both FF were identical. Unlike washing machines which are more prone to problems, in my experience this is not the case with FF.

If there was huge price difference between Bosch, I would go for the cheaper one. However the Bosch is the most reasonable price here - so I would definitley go for it. Antibacterial is tosh.

    Thanks!
So far the 39X00 is the winner. I emailed Bosch asking them to explain the difference between two models but they didn't came back to me yet.

Why do you need to pay £50 extra for antibacterial??

    Original Poster

To be honest, I don't quite understand what is the difference between the following statements on Bosch website:
    39V00 - Anti-bacterial protection
    39X00 - Anti-bacterial protection in fridge section

Does that mean the first one is more 'antibacterial' than the other?

I am leaning towards the cheaper model as I don't need any extras like wine rack, etc.

The way I read it is that the former has it is both freezer and fridge section...if that is so do you really require it at temps below freezing??
    I'm as confused as you.

Exactly. The funny thing is that the former is the cheaper one! But it is the latter that got "Antibacteria" logo on it and NOT the former. Go figure...

Right... finally managed to get Bosch response. They say that these 39V00 and 39X00 are EXACTLY the same. Apart from additional 'goodies' like wine rack and can dispenser (internal). These are the only difference. And they confirmed that BOTH models got antibacteria system.
Makes choice even easier then I am going to order 39V00.

Thanks to everyone who voted and responded to my cry for help!

Er... they didn't reply to my email. I was so impatient that I gave'em a call.

BTW, I am wondering what model someone who voted 'Other' had in his/her mind?

Glad you got it sorted and glad to be of help!

Maybe it was the Swarski crystal one!!!! I know i would have that one anyday!!

    Original Poster

Yeah, could be the one But after couple of hours thinking, my wifey decided not to buy Swarovski fridge. I know it was very hard decision

Good news for you then!! Still gotta love it.

    Original Poster

ARGH!!!! My better half decided to change her mind. She doesn't like Bosch's exterior. So it is Zanussi then. Or Liebherr. But then Liebherr doesn't sound nice in Russian. So back to Zanussi. But Liebherr got better interior. And Zanussi got better exterior. Exterior or interior that's the question...

Jeez... why can't women be as practical as men? Look at the tech spec, decide whether it is suitable or not and who cares about interior/exterior? It's a bloody fridge!

    I need a drink...

    mmm... a warm drink

nice beer that....most Belgium stuff is fine with me..just that some of it is a little on the strong side...that's put me in the mood for a Leffe.

    Original Poster

Yes Belgians know how to make good beer. The best beer I ever drank was in small tavern on market square in Ghent. That was some kind of Kwak beer but brewed locally. Absolutely fabulous.

If you are after wheat beer, then try Ukrainian Etalon beer - very good. It was last year's Tesco Beer festival winner.

As to the device itself - it is HUGE!

zanussi any day,top quality but you do pay for it.

Congrats on gettin it! So, your poll was useless then? :? :giggle:

Glad you are sorted now

    Thanks for thanks

As to polls, any poll can be overrun by the Ruler of House, you know And She Who Rules decided to go for Zanussi, because it looks better.

And this thing is almost 7 foot tall! It is bl**dy enormous...

Good tall fridge freezer is nice, massive fridge, good for loads of drinks, I just wish more makes went for 70cm width which only Beko seem to do for 15feet cubic capacity total.

    Original Poster

I have 70cm fridge/freezer at the moment (LG) and I had nothing but trouble with it. Not because of it being unreliable difficult to use but purely because of lack of space in almost every house we moved. It is either too wide or too deep.

    No contest in my opinion......

Oh... (banging head against the wall)
Where have you been with this one a month ago? :w00t:

    Hi

Trawling google and found you have bought a zanussi ZNB4501S. We're after the same - can you tell me if the thermostat in the fridge is the old naff 1-2-3-4-5 type, or can you set the Friday to 4 degrees, electronically, and let it get on with keeping the correct temp?

Sorry for coming to you direct....

    Cheers

    Angel.

    Original Poster

The thermostat is actually one thing I absolutely hate in this fridge/freezer.
It is electronic, so you just selecting the temperature you want (mine is set to +5/-18). There are no fancy things like DoW or ToD settings.
The problem is that I never managed to understand how this thing works. For example, sometimes it goes crazy and shows +9 in fridge. After switching it off and immediately on, it shows +5. Once it decided to show 0 in freezer but things there were stone cold.
I've got an impression that values on display are completely random sometimes and do not reflect actual temperature inside.
