    Fridge/freezer problem

I turned my fridge freezer off on thursday so we could move house on the friday but since we've been in the new house the fridge or the freezer won't work, the part in the back at the bottom ,the compressor?, is really hot.

anyone any idea as to what it could be?

We transported it upright when we moved it so shouldn't have disturbed the liquids.

do you think i could claim for that on the house insurance? I never thought of that:thumbsup:

Try lifting it up and walking around with it as if was being moved around. Make sure you leave it standing afterwards for 2 hours before plugging it back in.

it could be that you've caused a coolant leak. but it could also be that you simply didn't allow it time to settle. you should really put in place and leave it unplugged at least overnight preferably for a day to allow the coolant systems time to settle. then turn it back on and try it.

ah right, that could be it, we put it in place and plugged it straight in , so possibly if i turn it off overnight now and try it, it might still work?

Shouldnt actually do too much harm  - my ex managed to get our old one down the stairs from our old flat with his mate and it somehow managed to end up upside down as they came downstairs- we still havent figured out how they did it:? - and it lasted years in the new house :-D.

    still not working:x

What type of fridge/freezer is it? I had an American style one whereby the fan near the compressor for the cooling coils seized. This also made the the compressor hot including the sides of the unit. A new fan from a ...'new fan shop' did the trick & only cost me a tenner.
