Front panel Audio extension

Found 9th Jun 2009
Just replaced the motherboard as part of a major computer revamp and Asus decided, in their endless wisdom, to place the the front panel audio header at the bottom left of the board. Geniuses!

Any one know a cheap place for a ready made extension lead (~ 10cm)?

do you really need to use them

Yes, I use them with the head phones.

Very convenient, as it automatically silences the speakers that way. Otherwise I would have just used an audio splitter at the rear of the computer and not given it a 2nd thought.

oh i see, are the cables on your case very short then, for some reason mine are about 50cm.

have you tried ebay

If I run them diagonal across the board they are about 2cm too short. Seem to be lacking the right search term, so I am now crawling the various ebay categories - tedious!

Might be simpler to just get the connectors from Maplin and solder a cable.

have a look in your motherboard manual for the correct term for them

User manual just calls it front panel audio connector.

]Closest match I could find. Will have to go and check BDC/Maplin for just the connectors.
