    FS/FT gone to pot!!

Whats going on? It seems to be full of new members joining up and trying to sell top end electrical stuff like phones, laptops and consoles!
Its getting ridiculous at least two of us have reported one thread and nothing is done yet even though the item is on ebay too!

Maybe we should start a thread....post the as soon as spotted and get as many people as possible to spam?

    PS I'm not your mate!!!!!

Yes, that's an idea - wouln't necessarily want to stop newbies selling, but it would be good if details could be verified in some way first - maybe first time sellers having to lodge their details to be checked by a mod. It might not be failsafe, but it might at least discourage the scammers from trying their luck.

People are already using the Misc "spam" threads to raise their post counts to appear more legit in fs/ft. It would only get more common if there was a minimum post count as requirement.

As I've said over and over members with 0 feedback should not trade with low feedback members - they should trade with high feedback members and take all the risk until they build up a trading rep.

well shouldnt they have to verify some details.....

Well yeah - I'm just saying that making actual trading history a bar to entry would be far more effective than making a minimum post count. And we already have those tools sitting there.

Paypal is the way to go for dealing with newbies as you are covered.

Come on people, if some new user joins up and offers a ps3 brand new for 200 quid delivered then its YOUR risk innit, you want goods without risk then take your cash to an outlet and get a reciept, its your responsibility as this is a public forum with sales allowed.

You'd be surprised Kungfu how many folks are being silly, greedy if you will
Some folks don't even follow the basics of the trading advice..........

Should it be upto us to verify details? If it was a paid-for service then it might be feasible but we don't have the resources - especially as it's not a key part of the site.

    ok was just an idea...

Heh I feel bad now. I wasn't having a pop at you, just explaining why it isn't really possible.

I agree a users common sense is the most valuable tool available! Its just a shame that with some people this seems to disappear when an unbelievable bargain appears! But they are 99% of the time just that - unbelievable and unreal!

If it's too good to be true then it probably is.

ive told a few ppl about my verification process...

first i follow the rules, swap details etc....then....if im wary etc...

i TEXT the landline number......with ONLY 3 or 4 numbers i.e. 3385 and then the seller PM me with the number...

as i know its awkward phoning someone u dont know just to say hi are u such 'n' such from hukd etc...

anyway i advise to use this method ON TOP of the for sale rules that are in place....

it is up to us to protect ourselfs and our money on here....on anywhere....

Im new so guess no will trust me????? :?

True though alot of scammers out there are some get lured towards them because of the prices, so need to be more carefull!!
