FTP'ing to XBMC is so annoying! any tips?

It only seems to like one of my cables and even then is quite tempermental.

Had the Xbox since about start of 2009 and then often it would take about 2 hours of trying to connect and various movements of the cable then it would work every time including taking the cable out of xbox then putting back in.

Either its a faulty port or theres something else as it occurs on both the laptop and desktop the same.

    Using FlashFXP.

Well I wanted some tips from people who have XBMC on how to connect.

Must be either a cable or a ethernet slot issue I think then.

I am trying manual IP assignment of 192.168.0.4 I think to the PC ethernet and 192.168.0.3 to Xbox

I just get "unidentified network" shown on the Ethernet properties.

I would just connect to router but its downstairs, there is a tv in the living room near router but dont have a long enough cable.

    FlashFXP is just timing out.

I find it strange how it randomly works though and when it does you can actually remove the cable and put it back in and it still connects unless theres a break on the cable.

So something not in the 192 range.

Thats weird as thats whats reccomended on the net and what works with me on the chance it doesnt have a problem.

I think theres some messed up setting as literally it didnt work and I went into network settings on XBMC, changed a few things, then changed them back then it connects so I wonder if the config file is corrupt.
