Yes that's what i'm thinking but he told me that it was a benq.

well he is colour blind or didnt no were to look for the wires i think you have the right for a refund or good luck llamma.com/xbo…htm or this youtube.com/wat…mQg

You should be okay to get a refund, he did sell it using dud info.

Thought that all drives could be flashed easily enough just now though

    Hey, I'm the seller.

I was asked about my 360 I had for sale - I was shown a picture and pointed out it was a Benq drive from the picture. I was asked about the wires (and didn't know what he meant). Someone else told me what to look for, so I had a look and said I thought they were white ones if it was the hole I was told to look it. I didn't know why he wanted to know what drive (presumably for modding?) but explained to the best of my ability what it was.

I sold the 360 as I have five in the house from working in game stores and having a US 360.

Y'know Frankie, perhaps if your communication skills were a bit better, you mightn't be in this predicament. I had a look at the ]thread, and you made an absolutely lousy job at conveying what you meant. Wires in the whole? Whuh? What does that sort of thing mean to anyone who doesn't already know what you're talking about? I don't think you can blame Adamo for giving you a "Fualty descritpion", and nor do I think he should give you a refund. It's entirely your own fault for asking so unclearly.

Just to add to that, you did make an offer before determining what colour the wires were.

If you were in doubt it would have probably been best to ask for additional pictures

To be fair, in post 10, adamo said, "....According to those pictures it's a BENQ."
Based on that, post 11, op said, "Great would you take £60 for it as you are not including psu?"

He did make an offer before the wires colours were confirmed, BUT the seller had confirmed it was a Benq at this stage........
The buyer made no offer until he was told it was a Benq.
What wasn't good was getting the thread locked (at your request?) til the item arrived and you were happy

I'd be pretty upset, since, the way i see it, he has been mis-sold an xbox believing it to be a Benq

I was shown a picture.. I pointed out which one it was. I didn't think there'd be an issue with that. I can only do what I'm asked to.

ask for the thread in question ot be reopened and go from there, this will soon be gone, and from looking at thread ant even see where the deal was made by seller and buyer

The seller was asked to look at this link and identify the drive: llamma.com/xbo…htm

But the Liteon drive isnt on there.

So the seller should/could have said, the drive i have looks nothing like those in the link and they could have discussed it from there

but lite-on drives do look like benqs, when the tray is open, so I believe Adamo is in the right

Seems in the main, folks are with the seller.
Wonder if a mod could help?
Must admit fwibble, i've learnt summat there, didn't know they look similar

    Possibly,

'According to those pictures it's a BENQ.' Had the seller not known that there were more options available (and lets be honest that wasnt made apparent and in the nicest possible way they didnt sound too sure about that kind of thing) maybe they would have given a different answer. In my opinion at that stage the actual buyer should have said 'can you take a picture for me please?'.

The buyer could also have stopped making provisional offers on other consoles until that particular deal was done or nullified too though.

If you bought a holdall from a catalogue for example, and you needed specific measurements for it to fit in the things you wanted to carry, would you A: get the shop to identify the closest sized holdall from 3 pictures, or B: ask them to measure it?

Essentially no ones in the wrong here more than anyone else, so which one should pay for the mistakes made? Can the buyer just sell that console on without making a loss? If so thats probably the best way of moving forward here without either side being out of pocket.

They are both made by philips

    Good post angelkelly
Seems a few pics would have helped for sure, agree with that 100%
Ironic that pics were posted and yet not with the drive open
No slight on the seller for that, far from it, they were willing to post images however, they claim they weren't sure but weren't forthcoming at posting pics of the drive open.......hmmm

Edit: even *I* can see the difference in the drives.
Upper left corner of the open drive (unless it's shadow)

I think its a shadow of the case underneath, as they are from 2 different sites and taken at slightly different angles. Also remembering even if its a clip that that part wouldnt be flush with the outside of the case.

But I think the point is here, the seller was never asked to post a picture of the drive, and was never given a picture of a liteon to compare with. If he was THEN I'd totally be with the buyer on this one.

I'll be honest with you here if I was selling an xbox and someone said from these 3 pics identify yours... I'd have said the same thing if I didnt know what was inside it.

deleted my last message  thought angelkelly was pointing out obvious differences :giggle: sorry

Again, can't argue with that as much as i might like to
Just opened mine to check and always thought mine was a Benq, will have to check the wires, and, did do but cannot see where to look lol and, not trying again :-D

I also asked if the seller could have a look in the whole and check what colours the wires where and he said "White" they are clearly not white they are yellow i would have thought this was an easy enough question.
    :whistling:

Take it to a pro and the price is likely going to be the same to flash either. If you are DIY then you will need to buy a probe but they are only like £20 and you can sell it on after.

I looked in the hole and they looked white to me. It seemed easy enough although you never told me what I should be looking at, someone else did.

The drives you gave me to look at as well, they looked the same, you never told me there was another one (a fourth) that it could be.
