Found 8th Oct 2010
I recently changed back to Npower & my new key arrived today. Put it in the meter as instructed and it took all of my credit and put me on to emergency credit.

I called them and they said there is nothing they can do and my old supplier will eventually send me a cheque.

Problem is, I don't get paid until Tuesday and I had already spent my budget on electric this week and they have taken it. I am broke.

I'm gonna have to put on enough to pay back the emergency as well!

Is there anything I can do? I have a one year old and £7 pounds will not last until tuesday with my family.

There was no warning of this and I'm so angry I lost all my credit.

Don't want to ask people to lend me money either.

They said the key is programmed to do this and they don't warn people as it will leave them in a debt with them!

That really made me giggle X) Thanks lol x

Serious! I need to go through to Airdrie to pick up a new hamster cage, and if you live in Glasgow, I'll drop you off a tenner to top up the electricity, no worries.

What a sweetie, I'm going to make them send someone out over the weekend and give me some credit! (_;)

Feel for you, We had problems with NPower when we moved to our current address, Their was a £400 debt on the gas meter, Every time we put gas on it took £4 off for the debt, They kept saying when you top up we'll send a message so it reset's the meter. Phone call after phone call, About a month later they decided our meter was faulty and eventually sorted it.

Only thing you can do is cut back your usage if you can't afford it, Keep lights off as much as poss, No game consoles, No washing etc...

I'd be cross too they should make you aware first but they only care about the £££

That stinks! This time last week I could do nothing to praise them, they didnt send me a gas card, so sent an engineer to me with an hour and gave me some gas!

Now this week I hates them, I never would have put my key in until it was empty

Ring ofgem and see what they advise

Call them and tell them you are going to change to another provider as they have not given you a very good example of what the company is like so would rather leave now.....see how long it takes them to sort it then :-)

This thread has nothing to do with the price of her bill...she posted because her new supplier has taken money in advance when she loaded her meter with her new key.

glad you have sorted some pennies out missb
