Furniture removal, the quickest and cheapest way

Found 9th Feb
Hi.
I want to get rid of a big armchair and a sofa/bed as soon as possible, ideally till Monday. I am trying to contact the charities which do furniture collection. Half of them don't answer your calls and the few which I have been successful in speaking to cant do it for a couple of weeks!
I have posted ads on freecycle. The soda/bed might get picked up but no one wants the armchair.
We don't have a big car to fit the chair in and take it to local recycling centre. Van hires are at least for 2 hours, minimum of 35/40£ and the recycling centre is literally.a 5mins drive!
Please advise me,what would be the quickest and cheapest solution here?
Thanks

Phone the council. They will take it away for a charge. Or break it up into smaller bits to take down the tip

burn it and leave any metal that didnt burn out for the scrapman/gypsys

or be nice to your binmen and give them £5 cash for a charity of their choice , they can crush it in the back of the binwagon

Lolz, the last one is the best idea ever

I pay £15 for 4 items to be picked up by the council. Usually is next day and is the hassle free option for me

My council charges are 30-35£ for 1-5items collection. Sadly I don't have any friends who has a big van kind of transport

Take a saw to them, the furniture not your friends
Just cut the furniture into smaller pieces and take it to the tip. It took me 30mins to completely destroy my old sofa. Less than that to take it to the tip.

had a similar thing recently only with a 2 seater and a 3 seater sofa bed so i hired a van for 25 quid for the day from arnold clark and took them to the charity shop i also put the van to good use and got rid of some clutter down to the tip, i did have to get a permit from the council tho to take the van into the tip but it was free and only took 5 mins

We put out a working fridge freezer and an old 3 pc suite and some other gear (which charity shop promised to collect and didn't) , under the carport, with a sign saying all in working order & free, no one took it, changed the sign to say Fridge £20, suite £20, etc it was all gone the following day, taken by some students, who walked by the house everyday in the night.

The sofa/bed will be collected today and the armchair is getting hacked into smaller bits before we take it to the tip.
