    Galaxy S7 Warranty Q

    Hi,

I would like to buy an S7 and just wondering. Is the warranty transferable if I buy a used one? Do I need to have the invoice? Is it safe from buy a new from ebay? I can find much cheaper than from high street retailers.

new from ebay retailers I assume maybe safe but not a new boxed a person is selling who's had it on contract as they can at any point cancel the contract claim phone lost or stolen and get it barred. But if u have receipt I don't think it should be a issue with the warranty thigh it's more the stolen blocked phone scams going around.

No you can't warrant a second hand device but 100% not sure. When buying new on eBay I think Square trade warranty should show underneath the buy it now tab. Of course with using PayPal any problems you just raise a case and always get the problem sorted.

Samsung give 2 years warranty on their phones and that passes on to any owner. If you don't have a receipt then they'll take your serial number and calculate the warranty from there. done this with my last 2 Samsung phones as both were secondhand. unless of course they've recently changed their policy.
I'd avoid a private seller as they can get your phone blocked.

This is still the case. Recently had the screen replaced on a S5 that I bought off a colleague.

Had no proof of purchase, they simply entered the IMEI at the Samsung Store to check if it was in warranty and proceeded with the repair.

I guess if the user has good previous feedback and maybe been a member for a while it helps, but who knows. They could always get the phone blocked, claim on insurance and get a new one.

Samsung have always repaired phones for me, and the ones I've actually had repaired weren't bought from new. Same with every other company but LG, who are notoriously difficult and require a receipt, unless you have a way with words.

If your phone gets barred though a warranty won't help. Not in a million years would I ever buy a sealed 'unwanted gift/upgrade' phone, or any other recent high value phone off eBay unless it was from a known store's outlet, such as Argos - the PayPal warranty is only six months, so if the seller stops paying their bill after that you're on your own. I've had phones get blocked after 8-10 months but luckily in both cases they were from Cex.

not for LG you need to have the invoice, as you can read it above, but it is for Samsung and I'm sure it is for Huawei (as my personal experience), nit sure for other manufacturers
