gallstones??

I think i've got gallstones... I had an attack last weekend, cramps, back pain, nausea, etc first time ever, and have self diagnosed myself via the internet! I feel much better now, but do you think I should go to the docs, or do you think it is a waste of time now I'm feeling better?

Doesn't the pain come and go with Gallstones?

Well my girlfriends mum is suffering with what it appears to be gallstones at the moment, she has had a few 'attacks' over the last 3 or 4 weeks probably about 6 or 7, has been to hospital twice about it.

I think you should go see your GP about it.

I would visit your GP. I once put my symptoms in google. Never again, lesson learned.... the only way for you to know for sure and set your mind at ease is to seek professional medical advice.

If its that sore visit the quack.

If its what you say it is (bearing in mind the self-diagnosis) then you may pass the stones naturally or they may increase in size and cause more pain, jaundice and need operated on.

thanks. have just made an appointment for monday

I Had gallstones once and my doctor gave me a catapalt

Just go straight to A&E and tell them you think you have gallstones, Doctors faf around with this sort of thing for ages, they will prod you a bit and then you insist on a X-ray only way your going to see the blitters.

I went back and fourth for a while with a Kidney stone that developed over a year into a monster, most of the doctors claimed it was a re-occuring infection. Wasn't, it got so big now I have a scar down my stomach and two scars on my back, due to the fact the thing caused so many complications.

If you keep getting the attacks I would try that.

There is a herbal treatment that works well with gallstones. Hydrenga Tablets starve yourself for two days, drink lots of fluid and pinapple juice (gets saturated into the stones so I'm told), then at the end of the second day down about 4oz of Pure Olive oil, the purest you can get. Worked plenty of times for a few people but it's discuisting.

they say fair , fat and fourty , is the time we get or are prone to gallstones , and very true !

I had gallstones last year you will get attacks every few months or weeks.
Make an appointment for Monday.
You will have a scan to see if and how many stones you have then they will make a hospital appointment for you to see the surgeon.
They remove your gallbladder by key-hole surgery which is sometimes done as a day case.
Key-hole surgery is quite pain free so try not to worry to much
(best thing i done was not as bad as i thought it was going to be been pain free since)
Good luck

I was dark, skinny and 30 when they found mine and whipped out my gallbladder

I had the same symptoms but had a kidney stone. My advice is to keep going to A&E as the more you visit the more they take notice and do something. My hospital were great and did an MRI scan within 6 weeks and found the stone. Did not show up on xray though despite having 4. If you need medication on prescription and have to pay for them make sure you get a 3 or 6 month certificate (look on direct.gov) as it will save you a fortune.

How did you get on at the doctors?

I was short, dark, plump and 18 when I had mine x hope you get it sorted op, not a very nice pain, I can honestly say the pains I had were worse than labour, took 2 years to get a proper diagnosis 24 odd years ago, I lived on gaviscon as GP told me it was indigestion, it was only when I collapsed at work and turned yellow that a true diagnosis was made ( luckily I was doing my nurse training at the time and I was on a stint in casualty, so got sorted straightaway )
