Sorry - gamblers should help themselves by not gambling.

Or is it one of these illnesses that everyone is responsible for except the person who is actually gambling/drinking booze/taking drugs/over-eating?

This bloke self excluded himself so he knew he had a problem. If he knew he had a problem why did he not then get professional help?

would he still sue if he had won money instead of losing it?

Actually, that person won that case. Whilst on the surface it may sound ridiculous that they won, there was actually good reason for it. McDonald's were making their coffees 30-50 degrees hotter than any other restaurant, at about 190 degrees F, 88 degrees C, and had ignored warnings from a burns institute that they should make the coffee no hotter than 130 degres F, 55 degrees C. Not least because the coffee was being served at drive throughs where spillage onto the body is more likely to happen and that at the temperature they were serving it at, it would only takes 2-7 seconds to cause third degree burns. McDonalds were also aware of over 700 similar incidents, so knew that there was a problem with people getting seriously burned, but again, they had ignored most of these cases or settled without going to court.

This makes me laugh a bit, i know a gambler who is a professional at it and it is his main income, once he has had 2/3 wins they either wont let him in a betting shop to bet or his online accounts are shut and he can no longer use them just because he wins a few k's....yet they are willing to take this amount of money off this bloke but not pay it out for to long before they stop it happening.
It seems a no win situation for betting, a unfair game really in one breath.

Hope the greedy b****** egts absolutely nothing, except a huge court bill. must be a rich f*** anyway, he placed bets totalling 3.5 million:w00t: must have serious cash to be able to get that much credit.

Yeh well people get it 'made' for them and spoil it.

not sure bit of a gamble that
wonder what odds WH will give me:oops:

If he does win I wonder where his winnings will go :whistling:

    Maybe Ladbrokes

this will be the same guy who alledgedly got a right pasting from a couple of local loan sharks who he owed thousands of pounds to! do you think he should sue them to?

if WH had it in their clause that you can apply for the 'blockade' and if they knowingly allowed the same person/same name then they should pay up.

but i for one, also believe that people need to take a big chunk of the responsibility for outcomes of their actions. pushing the blame onto someone else when things go wrong is incredibly selfish and in complete denial of their own mistake and addiction problem - it makes even amy winehouse look like a martyr saint because for one, she is not out there asking for pity and blaming anyone else for her problems.

    bet he's got a bet on a ladbrokes saying he'll win :P

Regardless of whether the person in question should help themselves out, if the company offer a service whereby they will refuse your custom and then let you gamble then they are breaking an agreement between you and the company. I work in a pub and irrespective of whether people should manage their drinking themselves we had to take a drink of someone last night. Its part of our job and what we have been trained to do. If we didnt then we are not doing our job properly, regardless of how daft we may or may not think it is, therefore we are at fault.
