Does anybody know GAME's christmas refund policies?

I bought a ps3 game lately that was factory sealed and the cashier also put a GAME security sticker seal on it. I now dont want this game as were getting it for xmas from family member, but i have removed the GAME security sticker.

Does the game need this GAME sticker on it too, despite being factory sealed, in order to return it? Or was my cashier just not thnking straight?

Maybe someone that works there can enlighten me??

Thanks in advance

As long as it's sealed still, and you've got the receipt you should be ok.

Thats what i thought. Just seemed bizarre though her putting a sticker on it. Just wondered if that might be a T&C to their extended xmas refund policy

If it's sealed you can get a refund, they can't make up their own rules about some silly sticker... Trading standards will tell you that.

They have no legal oblgation to offer a refund whether it's sealed or not. So surely they can use their sticker as a requirement.

doubt they will refund you bcause you changed your mine regardless of it being sealed

you will get gift vouchers/credit note unless it is faulty

I managed to return a game last week with no sticker, but saying that it never had one. As far as i am aware the sticker should only be used on games that are not factory sealed (this was checked with a mate who workes for game). You need the receipt as they scan it into the computer, if its factory sealed and you have the receipt then yes should be no problem on the refund.

My guess would be he asked his mate last week when he was returning the item?

No retailer has any legal obligation to offer any form of refund or voucher for a change of mind. Anything they do is purely a gesture of Goodwill. If its faulty on the other hand, or not as described they are legally bound to offer you a refund.

my boyfriend was a manager at game until recently, he says you'd get an exchange or a credit note/gift card but not a refund as the security seal is missing. but might be worth a try to claim there was never one on!

I have an old receipt and on the receipt it says:

"GAME will refund or exchange all christmas purchases returned before 4th January 09. Items must be in unopened supplier/GAME sealed packaging with a valid proof of purchase..."

Stupid me just binned the receipt in the bag, but my bank statement will suffice surely

So whats this barcode on the receipt for then? As i dont have the original receipt

Barcode on the reciept usually just reads things that are printed on the receipt.. date /time purchased. price paid. etc

If you use a reward card then all your purchases are recorded on that. The till will bring up all your purchases. I know that they will swap but I don`t know about refund.

Silly..

If it's their terms you cant do jack s...
Argos exempt all their games from their 30 day guarentee, you agree to this when you hand over your cash.

If the sticker says it must be on and its removed and they say it needs to be on, your stuck with it.

On GAME receipts, it usually says they offer a no quible 30 day money back guarantee providing the game is sealed. No idea why they put a sticker on a sealed item- was probably put on by a xmas temp that doesn't really know how they do things?
But yeah, I also noticed recent GAME receipts just say refunds over December must be returned by Jan 4th. Bit rubbish if you buy a game just before xmas as it only gives two weeks to refund or exchange instead of the usual four.
