    Gaming Headphones

Looking for some decent gaming headphones as the gf is moaning about the sound when I play MW2 etc

So need a pair that would mean no sound comes from the tv and would work both with the Xbox and PS3 - is this possible?

Any advice would be much appreciated........

I bought a pair of Sennheisers from Amazon for just over a tenner. They are closed back so don't leak any sound. I have my TV linked up to my sound system via digital optical. So, I just plug my headphones into my sound system and can use my xbox or anything else on the TV.

    Get a new girlfriend..............lol.

I've got a pair of sharkoon x tactic 5.1 digital, expensive but very good, the mic can be switched on or off, and in game chat is very clear. 5.1 can help with footsteps and from which direction

heard good things previously about turtle beach - how much would they be and do they work on both consoles?

They will work on 360 and PS3, (Obviously the sound comes from your TV)

Only thing is, the mic won't work with PS3, but if your bothered about that they do other ones for PS3.

I linked to the Amazon page, they are £35.

what do you mean when you say the sound comes from the tv?

I want headphones that mean no sound comes from the tv - the sound only comes through the headphones so no one else can hear the game etc

Doesn't state how it connects. If using it mainly for 360 I would get the X11's as you can use it with PC, PS3, and 360(360 with mic if you want)

The OP states he wants to spend around £30, and you go and pick a pair that cost over 8x that amount @ £245.

    Unbelieveable! (Actually, no its not)

    Astro A40 with Mixamp.

    Another plonker

OP, for the amount you want to spend X11's are a very good option for you IMO.

Depends how loud you have them. You can have them at a decent level with minimal sound heard outside the phones.

Obviously there will be some sound. But for a decent pair of gaming phones, can't really go wrong for this price. If you have earphones out on your tv you could always just go for normal earphones, you dont have to have gaming ones if its just to stop your otherhalf hearing the sound.

The best option are the Turtle Beach PX21's but you need to double your budget.

If you don't want to chat, then the X11's are fine, but you will regret it when you want to chat, and have to rig up an inferior way of communicating.

Sound plays an enormous role in many games not just the for the sound effects but for creating tension etc With the surround sounds ones and they also give you directional cues eg you can hear footsteps behind you. So they're definitely worth thinking about.

I'm not interested in chat, just playing without disturbing anyone else in the house

I don't mind a bit of sound leakage, what I'm looking to avoid is sound coming from the tv

Can't be used to chat on Xbox live. I know OP doesn't want them for that anyway.

Anyway, I've added all I can to this thread.

    For your budget, X11's IMO.

I was giving my opinion on X11's, because I have them.
