Why not get a console? They are cheaper and are built specifically for gaming. With the spare cash you could buy a cheap laptop or netbook if you wanted to also have a computer.

With consoles getting more expensive and PCs getting cheaper the number of people that is true for is shrinking.

Places like PCSpecialist and Cyberpowersystems that do custom PCs will build you a quad-core Q6600, 4GB of ram and 4850 system for under £600 and you may well be able to find it cheaper if one of the bigger system builders like dell have exactly what you're looking for.

Thanks for you help but I was wondering what was your opinion on this: direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx

I know the graphic card is bad but if a bought a new graphics card do you think it would be quite good?

If you can live with the limitations of it being a dell (BTX motherboard with limited slots, no overclocking, probably no eSATA/firewire) then it's a good base unit to add a better graphics card too, although remember you'll probably need to factor the cost of a new power supply in.

Perhaps the biggest downside to that is that it'll almost certainly come with 32-bit vista and if you want to switch to 64-bit (to take advantage of over 3GB of memory and faster 64-bit programs) I'm fairly sure you'd need to buy a new copy of vista.

i got one from here dinopc.com/sho…htm good service and great pc

Get yourself something with an E8400, its by far the best bang for buck Gaming CPU a the moment.

In what respect? It's performance and price are similar to other processors at that point like the Q6600 and the E8500.
