Garmin Sat Nav updates

I've had my Garmin Nuvi 200W for a year or so now but have never been able to update it for free despite registering it online. Basically they want £59.99 for up to four updates per year which is a bit steep.
Anyone else have this problem or know a way around it ? I'm fed up driving down the new part of A2 with my car appearing to float on the fields next to it!

I am having the same problem with my garmin, I was up a mountain in Spain and in the air at Luton airport!! The cheapest update I have found is Halfords disc but I thought you only get one update from Garmin for 109 dollars or whatever the price is,also have a problem with some new average speed cameras put up last week, she (Emily) doesn't seem able to detect them. Mine is a C550
