If you have prepayment meters then you pay a premium for those. Last time I was informed it was just under £100 a year for both Gas and Elec meters. so switching to a "dry" meter as its often referred then you'd save straight away.

Check with www.uswitch.com for the cheapest supplier for your area. If possible pay by direct debit and take both Gas and Elec supply from cheapest supplier as its classed as Dual Fuel and paying this by direct debit will get you more of a saving.

I think you might find that you'd save at least a couple of hundred quid....

will you have to pay to change meters ?? check it out!!

£25 a week in electric???????? geezus! I was on prepayment meters and the most i paid for electric was £12-£13 a week, do you have a debt coming off that meter? deffo get meters changed ASAP, i wasn't charged to change by Npower, not sure if all are the same.

I know its shocking rates....

But the type of boiler you have and central heating set up all has an influence as well as the type of tariff you are on.

You might not need to change meters, ebico.co.uk/ind…php charge the same for pre-payment as they do for standard meters, and i think their rates are quite good too.

First of all - get off that bloody pre-payment meter.

There was an article on the news the other day about them.

Did you know that the combined annual profit for all suppliers in the UK through meters is £550million!!!!!!!!!!!

I think these companies earn enough profit from us poor folk.

Go onto Uswitch website & enter as much details as possible they should calculate the best company to go with as they know who supplies what in your area.

Good luck!

im on edf duel fuel pre-payment and ebico are supprisingly now more expensive say uswitch.

weird, they say ebico are slightly cheaper for me!
I don't trust uswitch etc that much TBH, they only work by people using the affiliate links, if they don't have a link for a partiular supplier I always wonder how accurate their results are

thanks for all the help....will try uswitch and im on EDF dual gas and electric and they seem to be the most expensive....will definately change from pre payment though..thanks again all

dont do uswitch yet, get your meters changed by your current supplier.. then go through quidco when you switch, i got £60 cashback, and that was to change to one a lot cheaper than who i was with.
