Gas bottles for BBQ

Hi peeps, Just wondered if someone can help me out with something.

So I've been and bought a gas BBQ now all I need is a gas bottle to use it ( weather permitting )

My question is this if I were to buy an empty bottle off eBay or Gumtree will a local gas supplier ( let's say calor gas ) fill it for me or supply me with an exchange but without any existing agreement ?

Obviously the bottle bought via eBay etc will in theory be mine but I'm just a bit worried in case I buy an empty bottle and can't get it filled or exchanged without any bottle agreement.

All all the websites I've checked don't really say but all mention this agreement business.

Thanks.

Yea I've been looking at them too but £29.99 hire charge for the bottle seems pricey

Use butane instead, only £5 deposit. You may need to get a different regulator but you can get that from gas deal too.

Thanks unfortunately you are a bit too far for me to travel but thanks for the offer
No need to buy. Look on freecycle. I couldn't get rid of 5 bottles. Ended up giving them away. Just take an empty one to anywhere that sells them and exchange for a full one. Camping/Caravan shops usually sell them.
As r4rcm says. As long as you take one in, no one cares about agreements.
My dad gave me a 7kg empty butane. Took it to lincoln calor and they did the exchange for £23. No agreements at all

This ^

£24.99 for 13kg butane, £8.99 for new regulator (if needed).

Next time will only be £19.99 (or thereabouts depending on price at the time)

Which cylinder has £29.99 deposit..?

Which takes 27mm clip on regulator which our BBQ has but that comment was before I realised you can change the regulator and use a cheaper gas bottle.

That £29.99 deposit is for Propane UN 1978 in a fancy 'patio gas' cylinder, which is exactly the same gas as there 19kg Propane (UN 1978) cylinders at £28.99 with £5.00 deposit.

Replacement regulator costs £9.99 from them, but can be had from local caravan shops/amazon/ebay for around £5.

So, same gas, but cheaper for a larger quantity.

Alternatively you could change to Butane, £19.99 for 13kg, £5 cylinder deposit and £8.99 for 21mm clip on regulator.
