    I doubt that will happen!

Some friends came round last night and were talking about this. My opinion for what its worth. The country is in a S*** state and it doesnt matter who runs the country we will get S****** one way or another.

Two Politicians are talking, when one says to the other "You're Lying!" which is met with the reply, "I know! But you can atleast let me finish!"

I agree. My deductions are just short off £100 a week. I resent the fact money just gets thrown at the above.

    agreed

Politics in Britain needs a huge clean up parliament is (more so) full of sleazy, lying, cheating scumbags who are out to look after number one and to swindle the ordinary citizen as much as they can,

I believe when New Labour were elected in some ways it semed politics had been modernised and we had moved on from scadal - today both Labour and Tories aren't fit to represent the country - think we might see quite alot of spoilt ballot papers at the moment thats where my vote lies

If you don't vote, you don't have the right to comment on politics and it's because of people like you that the BNP got in.

No. The BNP got in because there was such a low turnout at the last elections. If the people who didn't vote had done then they wouldn't have got in.

I think the BNP gaining a seat was more to do with protest votes rather than no votes, but at the same time, if you don't vote you can't really complain about anything because you decline the chance to vote to change it!

The vast majority of the people in the UK vote for the main 3 parties. However a huge chunk of that voting demographic did not vote, ergo, the smaller parties got in,

I cannot believe I have to explain the very basics of the democratic process to grown adults.

Im not complaing, just stating a fact. My one vote wont change anything, and it doesnt matter who gets in, you get S****** either way.

Well that's fine. If the majority of people do want to vote for the BNP and that majority then go out and vote for him, then that's OK, because that's democracy working.

But that's not what happened at the last election

Sorry, i didnt word that right, i just meant in the future you couldn't really complain too much if you wanted to.

If no one voted.... ermmm a re-vote i would think, although i am not 100% sure, the chances of that happening?! ( they would probably make it complusory in the future, even if it meant spoiling your ballot paper!

But it will, why? Because a high % of people in this country have the same atittude and all those votes add up to a huge gap in the voting............by not voting you're not actually stating anything.

Does anyone know what happens with spoilt ballot papers? Are they just put aside or are they counted up to register how many have been spoilt?

This is exactly right. By not voting you don't make any statement at all. You don't take part in the process, you are completely without a voice.

Yeah. If you are unhappy and dont want to vote for anyone, just go along and draw all over your voting slip. Better to do that, than just not vote.

I beleve the bottom line is that 'normal' working people are held in disdain by many politicians of all parties most of the time. Politicians really do believe they are a class above the rest and unless they are held to account will only seek to feather their own nests according to their own personal beliefs.
But our sysyem is better than most so 'normal working people' have a greater chance of playing a part in a system such as ours if they want to. There are many who would rather abdicate this responsibility though. Human condition to whinge but if you dont take part you get what you deserve i suppose.

Now how do we deal with the bankers?
