Getting a new TV, Should I go 3D?

hi guys,
I need a new TV (within next 7 days), and I can get a Samsung le40c750 3D ready LCD for about £800.

Should i get this now, or wait a few years, and stick with a 'normal' HD telly for now.

I dont want to get a normal telly, and 3D be a massive hit in the next 18 months.

This is a really hard one to judge

Help and advice appreciated!

nooooo.....far to early

If you spend £300 on a HDTV now and wait a couple of years the 3D TV may have come down in price to £500 and your no worse off. If 3D TV flops your at no loss and if it takes off price will drop and you'll still have a spare TV

so u saying i should get a 3d telly?

i have the panny 50vt20 sky 3d hits in the autumn, the ps3 3d movie update comes out shortly its gonna be massive get in now mate im glad i did well in the next couple of months even more so theres some good games on the way in 3d too

No I'd wait to see what happens. Basically if you don't spend too much on a HD TV now then when the price drops you will be better off than the £800 you will spend buying one now.

Nice, u got the vt20! Only prpb at the mo is lack of content!

Far too early imo, It's only coming down in price, I don't think it will get huge anyway, too gimicky. For games it will be good, but doesn't add much too a film, you'd be better off buying a Panasonic plasma and a proper AV amp, adds much more to films imo

Thanks guys, will prob hold off abother 18months or so!

Your best waiting til the technology to view without glasses is mainstream & available on the cheap. What twonk wants to wear 3D glasses just to watch TV !

You're spending nearly a grand.

Might as well get 3D if you can afford it, and forget about what prices they will be, if you can afford it now, buy it now.

madness to be an early adopter imo

get a cheapo decent LCD for £300-£400 and sell it in 2 years for £200

the £1000 3D TV priced today would be £500 max by then.

hardly any 3D material anyway.

if you wear glasses, would you need to wear TWO pairs of glasses!!

No.

Technology isn't standardised yet so you could end up with the minidisc of TV's.

I wouldn't buy a Samsung either...really not a fan.

Primary reason - the sound sucks. Unless you have a separate home cinema system and you're going to use it 24/7, don't buy a Samsung. Worst speakers on any TV.

...3d would really hurt my eyes.

98% of games on the PC have the capability of displaying in true 3D. Costs a lot less too if you're only interested in playing 3D games.

you missed the point completely that 3D technology is not standardised yet.
