Getting deal heat on your posts question

Personally, I don't give two cows how hot or cold any of my deals get, if I find something at a good price, I'll post...

I see people defending their posts 'don't vote cold cos..... etc' ....Why?

Does it have an effect on your profile thing? the bit under avatars 'pilot light' 'flamethrower' etc - is this how hot your deals get, or how many posts you've done?

because only deals which are around 100 degrees go to the hot section where most people look.

and if it doesnt go there quick enough then the deal is buried under hundres of other ones and no-one botheres looking through all the pages of new deals posted. Thats why the rate at which they get hot increases faster after 100 degrees then when it was first posted.

cold.

 I search through new deals rather than hot ones! Things are less likely to be out of stock that way!

So..that is to say people want their deal to get hot so everyone says 'thanks OP' etc?? It's not like you get paid for posting a good deal..

Flame Thrower

You're a flamethrower, why? cos you've posted hot deals? or you've got 500 odd posts?

me2,

IMHO I think you miss the point of listers comments, the site to help everyone get the best deals available. When an item is listed with the best intentions of helping people it becomes frustrating when it gets voted cold with no comments. If the cold voter does not believe it is the best price then they need to share to help everyone who may be interested in the item.
It has been discussed many times and it will never change the culture that has developed on here.
Just accept we all have different ways of helping and live with it....

The pilot light/flame thrower thing depends on how many posts you have.
I.e i think 500 plus is flame thrower
and 1000+ is solar flare
