    Getting rid of cats

Apart from using a 12 bore and shooting them, how can I keep my neighbour's cats away from my house and garden?

Have tried everything (including talking to the neighbour) but nothing works. Come into garden under the hedge (have tried blocking it) and poo in the garden and kill plants.

They come into the house if we leave a door open and now have started coming in through windows and setting alarms off.

    Neighbour doesn't care too much.

Is it legal to kill a neighbour's animals? Plus - there are 4 of them - it might look a bit suspicious.

You recommended putting it in cat food - bit of a giveaway.

or next time they come in house catch one put it in a box then into your car and a nice 50 mile drive and then release it

Gonna stop all the birds flying overhead as well in case they splat. Stop the slugs and snails cos they leave trails etc. You have your environment once you lock all your doors and windows. Leave the rest to the other species.

the flower bed problem is easy

weewee, esp a mans, no need to use full strength, just add some water with it in a bucket (i'll let you decide how to acheive that) and pour around the soil in the affected areas once every few days, do not stand in the garden and wee!

as for the house, get a little water sprayer, cats hate the water and will soon learn if you spray them

might hate it a bit more if it dripped on his head!, besides i was suggesting spraying them with water, not just them looking at it!

Its a manx cat, they like swimming as well

    last resort, wee on them!

oh, other thing that works is a dilution of jeys fluid in water, the smell they dont like, can put that on and around your plants, its used for plant pests anyway, just this time for a bigger pest

I got a huge one - they run off - it doesn't stop them coming through in the first place. Plus I can't be on guard 24/24

And before anyone suggests it , I used a high pitched deterrent which cost £30 from B&Q.

    They nuzzled it.

    200 foot long garden.

Have patched up holes in fence as best I can.

They jump up the fence panels.

have put carpet gripper on top of the panels - they don't do that anymore!

However, they go round front of house too and come in from the other way - through the other 200 ft. boundary!

fill some empty plastic bottles with water and put them near the hedge, that will stop them coming under it, also dot a few around your garden, for some reason cats are scared of them lol

+1 does sound really daft but it worked with my garden.......I just used empty 2ltr coke bottles (without the labels on) filled em 3/4 with water and left them around the garden........wonder why they dont like em :?

my cat poos in the neighbours garden.. sometimes.. but saying that- i don't see what your neighbour can do to help the situation. moggies have a mind of their own. i'll agree with jubby's suggestions- not that i've tried em..

our cat has a litter box but still goes out sometimes and poos..'(as a treat?!). he is neutered so doubt he's doing it trying to be territorial and wotnot.

anyway..i think a *water* gun is best. not a very powerful turbo one, mind.

A good way to keep Cats out of your garden and more so your flower beds is HUMAN hair...

Friend across the road used to have cats coming into her garden and laying steamers in her flower beds but soon has she sprinkled human hair all over the flower beds and grass, the cats won't go near her garden.

There are some good tips here:

We have a cat that kept coming in to our garden (and in the house when the door was open). We just sprayed it with the hose everytime it came in and it stays away now.

i'll bet chopped up cats is even more lethal to cats

My Father-in-law and his mates cooked one when they were hungry during the war (cat) !

He said it tasted ok! and it was better they had it rather than leave it for the Japs!

I hate cats, waiting for my snake to catch one.
I have bother with cats p'ing on my lawn, I tried curry powder on the affected areas (didn't work) then someone told me to put up side down plastic forks round about where the pee. Grass is finally starting to grow back now

Apparently its something to do with the glare the bottle gives off during a sunny day the pussy doesnt like

    BB gun.

If you don't want a dog can you borrow one for a few days? They are coming to your garden because it is easy, they will soon choose to go somewhere else if it not a pleasant experience! Failing that, we sprinkled essentials oils - lemon - round the places they came in and it stopped them, but you do have to renew it every few days. It stopped them after a month or so (after they had run out of places) and they have never been back since. Good Luck  and I AM a cat lover...

cant you get high pitch noise makers that deter tyhem?
