Girl opens her A Level Results live on TV, and her reaction changes... (video)

Doesn't seem to work for me in FireFox, but does in IE (from the old BBC News site):
    news.bbc.co.uk/pla…s=1

Watch the change of mood at around 1.00 (one minute). How terrible must that be?

    :giggle:

Ouch!!! I wonder if she got in anyways. That was such a stress, hoping to get the right set of results to get in. Then 3 or 4 years later you realise you probably could have done the job you're in without the degreeeee!

    If you get a job

thats hilarious, you think if you were live on tele to a few million viewers you would read it before you start jumpin round!!! lmfao

How humiliating is that, hope the poor thing doesn't top herself.

Everyone she knows will have seen it, poor soul:shock:

    gutted

ok what happens i cant see

Exactly! 3 years of university, now qualifyed as a teacher...I can't find a permanent post. Time is ticking. I think two of my class of 20 secured permanent posts. I'll just fight my way in through supply!

no she needed ABC to complete her alphabet set! :whistling:

I thought she held it together pretty well - a lot of girls her age would have totally freaked

It was pretty sloppy reporting; the reporter carries on with his how great to be going to uni questions even though it looks like one interviewee isn't going! He seemed to dim to adjust the interview focus and too lazy to reshoot the piece with different subjects.

i think she got two Bs and an A and was unsure she would get in, as they were jumping up and down at AAB

I doubt you'd have a problem at the school I teach at! At our school staff are difficult to recruit and generally leave fairly quickly (and it's a long way from Wales!)

Depends on subject, an A in physics (or any science) is not the same as Phsycology (or however you spell that **** subject.)

Or the University, of course. Quite a few Universities are asking for As in four subjects (most candidates only take three "core" subjects for A Level) - including Maths and Further Maths - just to do a computer science degree.

    damn, doesn't work at work

Thats the problem with society today, grades dont mean intelligence.

I only got B's and the school called me a failure(more the fact I came from a council estate) I then went onto a HND and was top of the class, then started a degree and was more a small fish in a big pond

Kids/teens/young adults today are quite arrogant, I go on a student website and people pick up on the slightest spelling and grammar mistake and act as if it means they are smarter

Or brag about how they got into Durham or Oxford and everyone elses degree is useless

It seems common sense and grades dont go hand in hand

For most exams its just reading and memorising what you see then writing it down in an exam.

Im great intelligence wise but a failure socially as im nervous and a bit dim(contradiction)

My brother has average grades but gets very well paid jobs and has loads of loyal non prattish friends.

i can imagine if she was blonde i don't think that she would have been that shocked if she was lol

    Typical blonde

I dont think she will have too much trouble getting into Sheffield with a 'B'

University offers are indivdual, the more the university wants the student the lower the grades they will want, my cousin went to Oxford with 4 A levels at grade A but his offer was for one D grade, so he would have got in even with dismal results, just because they really wanted him at their uni.

I used to work in a school and every year when the A level results came out you had the ones crying that failed, i had no sympathy as most of them were to thick to take A's and were convinced to stay on a school by teachers and spent to much time partying to do any serious revision. :x

Thick can be anything, brightness is more like it I mean my brother started various college courses over the years but left a few months in despite getting good grades as he wanted to party.

I know people with straight A's who can quote things from a book but arent bright.

Memory is seems is the main factor in school grades with a bit of common sense to know when to use the right thing you remembered.
