Glasgow Hotel in June - better deal than Travelodge?

I'm looking to book a weekend in June for me & a friend in Glasgow & at the moment the best deal I can find for 2 nights accommodation looks like the Central Travelodge. Is there anywhere else I should check out?

I need 2 beds & an ensuite bathroom. Prefer brekkie included but not essential. WiFi a bonus. Travelodge is £45 per night for a family room.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

last weekend in June possibly...and I suspect we would be flying, so ideally walking distance of centre. Thanks!

I'll have a look for you but to tell you the truth I don't think you will get much better than that for staying in the centre of Glasgow. You are smack bang in the city centre where you are. What are you in Glasgow for if you don't mind me asking. If its for shopping then your in a good location.

We want to go somewhere we can stroll around, that has interesting architecture and some interesting shops, plus some decent affordable dining.

It's Prestwick that's putting me off a bit - it's stupidly cheap flights (potentially) but Prestwick is so far out that we'd lose quite a chunk of our weekend travelling there and back.

The Holiday Inn group have a BOGOF offer, that is due to expire on 31st May, but I\ve found it still quotes the discount prices for June as well. They seem to have B&B at the Holiday Inn Expresses from £35.50pn or Room Only at the Holiday Inns from £35.00. You may also be able to get 5% Quidco.

Much better hotels than Travelodge / Premier Inn and much better food too.

Prestwick airport has its own station within the airport and is only 40 mins max from Glasgow Central Station, you also get half price rail travel if you show valid air tickets so I wouldnt avoid prestwick as it will cost you more and probably the same amount of time to get from Glasgow airport into the city as you will be messing around on buses to get there as it doesnt have railway station

OK. I take it from the family room your coming with children. You can drive Glasgow to Prestwick in
25 to 30mins at the most but staying in Glasgow is better as you say. Glasgow has a good underground system that can get you around a bit. Glasgows west end has the botanic gardens, nice places to eat, pubs, nice walks along the river kelvin and art galleries. So if this is your main activities with a little shopping I'd look into getting a place to stay around here. If you decide stay in the city centre then you can just hop on the underground to the west end.

No kids, but we're not good enough mates that we want to share a bed if we share a room!

We do need min of 2 beds (the family rooms have a double and a sofa bed, so they fitted the bill!) and my friend wants a room with en-suite.

Much more reassured about Prestwick now, all this extra info is really helpful, going to look at Holiday Inn site now.

maps.google.co.uk/map…age

click on this page. It will give you a map of all the hotels in Glasgow. You can see where they are in relation to central station as this is where the train from prestwick will arrive. Let me know if you see a hotel and I'll tell you if its a nice area/hotel. Also if you decide you might want to stay in the west end give me a shout. The west end has more B&B's so better rates.

In addition to the map from Johniemac there's the Ibis Hotel near Sauchiehall Street, the Premier Inn George Square both close to the city centre. There's also the ETAP hotel near the Science Centre which is £39 a night per room, not sure if it's twin or double rooms. There's also the Jury's Inn on Jamaica Street, there's a Eurohostel next to it too and two Holiday Inn Express places one on Stockwell Street and another known as Theatreland on West Nile Street. Both of them are a couple of minutes walk from main thoroughfares (Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street respectively).

As others have said you get a train at Prestwick Airport that goes directly to Glasgow Central, takes about 45-50mins and you're right in the centre of the city. If you want to find places to eat/drink then have a look at ]The List which is a great guide to eateries, pubs and clubs.

Used the link for Holiday Inn Express - came up at £75 for 2 nights (2nd night free). I have all the printed confirmations at that price, so hopefully there won't be any problems. excellent price and seems walkable from the station.

Thats great mate. Enjoy your stay!!
