    Going through Australia Customs

My mum is going to Australia at the weekend, just wondering what things she needs to be aware of while travelling through Customs, does it take ages or is it fairly straight forward?

    Thanks :-)

its worse than the USA, you need to find out what you need to declare, and not take anything that needs it!

keep it simple, NO food for a start, if you make it simple it will be quick

Make sure you have a face mask on when they spray the plane with chemicals while you're sitting there.

Also, admit to a bit of shop lifting or similar, so you will fit in with the locals. (It puts the customs guys at ease!) :w00t:

Dont take any food or vegetation..... and you'll be fine.

When they ask if you have any drugs, say NO, but as you are offering here's some money

The words "Australia" and "drugs" were mentioned. So too late.

As far as I recall, it was very straight forwards for us last year arriving at Perth - a bit of a queue but nothing exceptional. They are dead keen about any sort of plant/animal material or food though - tell mum not to take any food gifts.

All the internal flights were fine as well.

They would'nt dare stop your mum!

I'm worried about what will happen when we go again in a year or so. Do you think I'll have a warrant for my speeding and parking tickets from '96?

(The speeding one was hillarious! I was way OTT on the motorway between Melbourne and Canberra and the guy was playing good cop bad cop, - without the good one! You WILL report to the court on Monday.... "No I won't I will be on a plane going home." What's your address? So I give it...... He repeats the question 3 more times.... he want's my Aussie address, even though we wont know until we arrive in Canberra! I did laugh - but not in front of him! Such a shmuck! )

When the officer asks your mum if she has any criminal convictions??!! Tell her to reply

" i didnt think you needed a conviction to enter Australia these days!!"
