Going to Chester next week, and just wondered if any of you nice people had any recommendations for a good family pub for an evening meal, both in the center of Chester and 10 miles away in Mold? Thanks guys, heat and rep will be given.

In chester there is an old orleans by the river lovely in there!! plus they have a car park u can park for free if you spend over a fiver just ask for a token at the bar!! and if your really brave you might attemt a row down the river the boats are right by there!!

and in sunny Mold there is the Glas Fryn its up by the Theatre (theatre clwyd!) really lovely meals with a fab view of the mountains if you are able to sit outside

hope this helps!!

There is a few nice local cafes in Chester, most of the big places as you expect pay extortionate prices.

I like the cafe near argos, local run and the owner has loads of their own paintings around the walls and for sale.

In Chester town centre it's a bit spare for 'family pubs' in the evening, but nice 'family restauarants' include Slug & Lettuce for 'posh pub grub' (sign up to hte newsletter for vouchers), La Tasca for tapas, Egos for mediterranean, Chez Jules for French(v good for lunch) and What's Cooking for a 'diner' restarant. Moules a go go is also meant to be good (but I personally haven't been there). The Fat Cat is good for 'posh burgers' .... You can google them all for more info.

In the villages around chester, the Cheshire Cat in Christleton is nice, and the Bunbury Arms in Stoak (between Chester and Cheshire Oak / Ellesmere Port via the direct route) is also good (on the whole).

If you like Chinese - check out Buffet City in Chester which is an all you can eat afternoons and evening - but good quality food also or The Imperial Chequer in Mold which i think does a buffet on a Sunday but at all other times is really nice food!

No, it's defo not new, I have a feeling it has gone from there.

I would recommend 'Whats Cookin' on the rows, The Black House Grill, Newgate Street and for something completely different The Albion, park street (Victorian corner street pub)

In Mold the chinese, Imperial Chequer is good and the Glas Fryn (close to the theatre) as foxymissroxy suggested is excellent.

Hope this has given you food for thought and helps. :-D

Ohhh i hope not i love old orleans and the OH takes me on the condition i then take a trip down the river which makes me feel sick lol he like to aviod cheshire oaks like the plague as that means spending ££

The Slow boat in chester is also lovely tho im not sure if it is open in the day time?!
