Good phone/contract for 14 year old girl?

Found 7th Dec 2009
Daughter has had basic phone with basic camera on it for a while. I've been paying the carphone warehouse £10 a month for 100 minutes and unlimited text. She only uses between 40-60 minutes a month and about a hundred text at the most, so she's not a big user. What's my best option to go for now she's out of contract? Carphone Warehouse have offered me the same £10 a month deal (it's reverted back to it's £20 out of contract price while I make my mind up).
Obviously if I choose to get her a new phone on it, it'll be more than £10 a month, but I think she might like a phone that she can listen to music on, have a slightly better camera, but still low call and text usage.

Has anyone seen a good deal on a suitable phone? Do you know a suitable phone? Should I stay with the Carphone Warehouse (she's on O2) or change to another company/provider to get quidco?

Any comments genuinely grateful for.
Thanks.

not a bad deal for mins and texts, the nokia 5800 has come down in price to about £100 for pay as you go, maybe cheaper to stay on same and buy new phone

my daughter got nokia 5800, unlimited texts, 100 mins for £15 a month, but 24 month contract, thats with t-mobile and through phone4u
Thank you Sassie
I only get PAYG phones for my girls ( who are 15 and 12 ) as they're forgetful and easily lose possessions, plus they're moody and have been known to just drop a phone in a bin if they don't like the conversation that's happening..... They're far heavier on texts and calls than your one... so your lil one sounds angelic

Will be interested to hear how others advise xx
Clarity - I've been very lucky with Bec (touch wood!) - she's been very good with her phone, and has had it for three years now. I wanted her to have a phone, for my peace of mind really, as she'd just started walking home from school and never wanted to have the sitch where she might have run out of credit and needed to call me urgently. I'm a bit overprotective really
also looking for a similar deal but with some online time included for an Edge/GPRS phone

Ooh I know what you mean, I'm loads overprotective... I even have my kids on tracking devices... no lie! lol
have you chated with ya daughter about which phone she would like as our idea of a phone and their idea of a phone are usually totally different- lol

if you post what phone shes looking for maybe we could find ya some deals
I would ring up O2, or even go instore, and ask them what they can offer you for £10 a month. You should be able to get quite a nice phone, around 100 mins and lots of texts for a tenner a month.
A couple of nice phones (Nokia E63 / Samsung Tocco Lite) on Virgin for £10 a month (18 months) with 100 mins and 100 texts. And you'll get Quidco with Virgin as well, and be able to keep the number.

Thank you Shibi - I had decided to switch her contract to another provider (through quidco) as Orange were doing a £150 cashback increase for new customers. I rang the carphone warehouse who offered me a £10 a month contract with a free internet phone (LG), unlimited internet usage and the same decent amount of texts/calls per month to stay with them and I couldn't be bothered to muck around with PUK codes and waiting for quidco cashback while I paid £20+ a month for the new contract etc etc so I took the easy option and went back with the CPW. Thank you all for your advice. Kind regards, and a Merry Christmas to you all xx
