    well then stop yer blethers!

Never had a problem with my Netgear DG834G which I got years ago. Will probably upgrade to a Wireless-N at some point I guess but this one is still going strong for now!

My first O2 router had a few issues where it would reboot itself but after calling O2 this was replaced promptly. The new one has been great, rarely have a disconnection and getting almost advertised speeds (20Mbps download 1.5Mbps upload).

Unless you are a networking technician you are best using the one supplied. The problem most people experience is due to broken microfilters, distance from the exchange, crap wiring job in the house or other issues with BTs good old copper cable.

You can always ask O2 to reduce the SNR target if your line is stable and you want a bit more speed.
If you are disconnecting often then they can increase the SNR but this will decrease your speed.

I've had 4 modems from O2 (Or more to the point BeThere) and constantly had problems with the line being dropped, sometimes several times per night.

I eventually bought a Netgear DGN2000 about 3 months ago and in that time, I'm not aware of one line drop. They know their modems are crap - it makes no sense why they are peddling them.

Mmm watching a few of these on ebay, may buy one.

    Dgn2000 highly recommended.
Use dmt tool to fake noise level on the line.
    I went from 1mb to 2.8mb overnight.

Dude.... what you describe in your first paragraph, Ive had with 4 of their modems - and their own tech support suggested I tried a different modem.

I'm glad I did. I'm not aware of a single reboot in the past 3 months or so. Just a bit different from 5 or 6 times a day beforehand.

Your line shouldnt disconnect, yet still does. Most odd that you're ok about that!
