Just been watchin some clips from CES and they talk about the 3D tv's, blu ray players and blu rays. Not sure when these will be coming out but will be some point this year.

Time to sell my blu ray collection already?!!

no, 3d will be very expensive to begin with keep your blueys they will be around for a good while

3D is the next big thing, me-thinks!

will they not just put the 3d films on blu-rays?

I heard the blurays would remain and just be adapted to have 3D i.e. new technique same technology...as Sony have announced an update for the ps3 in future that willl add 3d function...although im not sure if thats true etc

i believe the ps3 is 3d bluray compatible also

not sure whether there going to replace blueys with 3d, or just sell 2 disc blu rays (one with 3d). if they did that i wouldnt mind as much.

be more inclined to sell the dvd collection than the blu ray, hopefully get a few more price drops in BD this year and see more of them coming under the £5 mark

I always get headaches when i watch 3D media, so i for one will be on 2D until Virtual Reality movies/games come into play

all the blu rays ive already got wont support 3d though will they mate.

im assuming the 3d effect and the film are transferred together. dont think they can just update standard blu rays.

not sure though may be wrong.

your blurays you have now wont turn into a 3d image as they werent shot like that, as they use two different frames, it just means that the ps3 will be able to play the 3d films when they come out, they probs going to be using slightly different format or codec which can be played with software upgrade. No doubt avatars release on BD/3d will be the same sorta time that the tvs are release (i know sony defo have 3d tv in the pipeline for this year) so i would go for summer 2010 that it will come around

If they do it the same as 3D on the PC which I imagine they will as I … If they do it the same as 3D on the PC which I imagine they will as I can't think of another way, you need a new 120hz TV (might be higher), but current ones won't work. And a pair of £80 glasses per person (although price will probs come down when they are mass produced.

the new 3d tvs will have that sorta spec on it, you wont be able to watch 3d on your normal tv now, unless u want that crap green and red stuff, otherwise why would they bring out a whole different television set. id say the sony set will be 200hz anyway as it will be one of the first models it will be expensive anyway so they will probs put the top end spec on it.
2 pairs of glasses should be coming with the sony tv, although there might be more expensive ones which will be more comfortable etc

TV is not real though. Real life 3d is as is but TV why bother. The images for SD/TV are perfectly fine. Leave the fancy stuff until we live on Mars.

Anyone else hoping the 3D gimmick ends soon and the public reject 3DTVs (and Cinema when they get bored of it)?

Why did you just basically repeat what I said back to me. Obviously … Why did you just basically repeat what I said back to me. Obviously red/green glasses don't cost £80 a pair.

+1 i try not to keep up with new tech too much as you end up skint and a night out on town seems a much more sensible thing to waste my money on.

you need to do some reading up.

blu-ray is just a digital disk that holds data.

3d data will have no problems being stored on a BD.

PS3 can play them.

ok boss

you didnt read my question properly.

i know blu ray is a disc.
i know 3d can be stored on a blu ray disc.
i know ps3 can play them.

just wondered how it would be implemented? would they release seperate ''blu ray 3d'' films or would the 3d versions come as secondary discs along with the regular blu ray?
