Found 26th May 2008
I've just returned from the vet's, where my neighbour's cat was put to sleep.

She was 17 year's old and was very sick, I couldn't let her suffer any longer.

It was awful handing her over to certain death.

I took her to the vet's for my neighbour because she was too upset.

Sorry to hear that,17 yrs is very good for a cat.

my ex's cat lived to be 18 before they had her put to sleep. They found it hard to do as well. I'd weep buckets if i had to do it to my cat.
RIP little pru

awww...hugs

When I was at the vet's there was a lady with a puppy that was less than a day old.

It sounded so like cheerleader's puppies, the mummy had to have a Cesarean.

Sorry to hear that, she will be at peace now
Hats off to you for helping your neighbour out

:friends:

my parents cat is curently 19 shes unstopable and (i hope) will live forever

shame - but best thing for her - as much as we love them its the best thing
we have wafer who is 20 and deaf - still chasing other cats out of garden
and apple who is 18 lives a life of a diva and cost me a lot of money at vets - her teeth - we all will be gutted when the inevitable happens

I remember when we had to have our cat put down he was 17 years old and we had got him even before the kids were born and we used to refer to him as our youngest and when we returned from the vets without him the kids would'nt speak to us and kept asking us what we had done with him.

After so many years they really are one of the family.

Aww i remember when i had to take our dog to be put down. Very sad:cry:

I took her to the PDSA they are very good, they told me, that it cost £15 to put her to sleep.

I gave them £10 because my friend hasn't much money being a single mum.

I felt sorry for my friend when she was talking to the vet's on the phone she was crying.

I might take her to the sex and the city night at Debenhams tomorrow.

The world would be a much better place if there were more people like you, good karma

It is always so hard when we have to do something like this for our animals that we love so dearly .. & in your case doing it for a distraught neighbour ... well done to you for having the courage.
We had to have our Felix cat put down a couple of years ago & I still feel really sad now when I think about it but I know deep down it was for the best & the only thing to do. :friends:big hugs for you.

very sad, they are like you little ones especially when they have been with you for so long, you are very kind to do that for your neighbour, well done for that, it cant have been easy.

Yes not very nice but kindest thing to do for the cat & it's the cat that counts most here.

I know what i would like to do to you with comments like that you idiot.

I had to take my elderly neighbours two very elderly cats to be put to sleep when they were about to move into a 9th(!) floor flat(long story). The cats screamed all the way to the vets and I felt so awful but we knew that as outdoors cats they would never have coped with the move or worse still managed to get out of a window in the new flat.
Sometimes you have to think of the long term well being of an animal- if only we could show our relatives the same loving respect if they are suffering at the end of their lives. This is something I feel quite strongly about.

What a very brave and neighbourly thing to do, best for the cat but very sad
