Google Chrome OS and Videos locally?

I have been following a bit of news about google releasing a new os in mid june and that everything will be online. Does this mean no chance of playing mkv's locally on the hd, or through external usb? No winrar or alternative to winrar to extract downloaded archives?

If this is the case y put in dual core processors if it is only for web browsing?

Mid June is the american release date does anyone know when it will come here?

Thanks, wanted to know as im looking for a new laptop and had these questions to help decide what i should go for.

well this is a shopping forum..

my guess would be that it's an os... someone is bound to develop some kind of video playback application, whether it can stream from a remote location or locally..
