Google Search on Internet Explorer 8

I have recently got Internet Explorer 8 but the google search in the toolbar is google.com instead of google.co.uk

Is there a way I can change it? Just when I type something in, it will come up with shops based abroad instead of the UK which gets a bit annoying.

    Cheers

That changed the homepage but the OP asked how to change the search in the toolbar

Pass, don't have a google search bar in my IE8

right click on the google sign click on google toolbar options and change it there

I would say the obvious thing here and use firefox instead... but that probably wouldn't go over very well, lol

    1. To add google.co.uk search toolbar, Go here: ieaddons.com/gb/…om/ (off course using IE8) and Click "Add search provider", follow the instruction

    2. Next to your search toolbar there is an arrow pointing down, click it and then click "Manage Search Provider". Remove the current Google.COM search provider or you can keep it if you want

and yes... I would suggest you to use Firefox, because you can do this more easily in firefox

still cant get my head around why anyone would ever use ie (except for quidco lol).

BTW, if you do choose to use firefox instead, there are quite a few useful plug-ins for it, such as

    noscript
    cookie monster
    flashgot
    ref control
    download statusbar
    menu editor
    adblock plus

...they're some of the ones I use even with linux as my OS, just makes things a bit easier to manage sometimes and only takes a few mins to set up.
Plus with firefox you can add more search engines as you please, I have them for tvrage, amazon, wikepedia,IMDB and a few others

addons i use: noscript, adblock, downthemall, xmark, classic compact option, downloadhelper & pdfdownloadeR (need it cos i stopped using the resource-consuming adobe acrobat lol)

have used more back then (foxytunes, cooliris, flashgot etc) but they slowed my FF

IE also allows to add more search engines as my reply above shows...

Ahh didn't know that... haven't used IE for a few years or so now apart from the odd occasion when I couldn't get on a particular website with FF.

Yeah I would use the PDF thing too if I wasn't running linux OS... ubuntu has a built in document viewer that handles PDF files

Thanks alot for all the replies, I've tried adding it that way but I can't get it to come up, only as an accelerator which is no good to me. WIll have another go later.

I'm using IE becaus on our desktop, firefox takes sooo much longer to load up so I just decided to get this on my laptop instead.
